Title: I'm quite a spammer hum?
Post by: Eadee on July 18, 2015, 06:21:19 PM
There seems to be an Error in the post count per day.

At least I think so. Otherwise I'd be posting 5500 posts / day.

BUncle, you're even worse but you have my honest respect for posting every 4 Seconds :D

You must have not noticed the decimal point.  Your PPD is 5.5, not 5500.

I expect more precision from a German.

(I'm mostly German, BTW.  Saxe-Colburg-Gotha royalty, distantly, if an ancestor 400 years ago is to be believed [which we don't].)

I'm not sure I've ever gotten respect for my posting every four seconds before.  They usually have another way entirely of framing it...

That represents five and half posts per day. In some languages beside English, it is common to use periods instead of commas to seperate thousands from hundreds, millions from thousands and so on. Conversely, they use commas where we use periods. Perhaps this is why you think it says 5,500 posts per day? I am uncertain what the customs are in many other languages.

Here on teh olde continent we use periods instead of comma's, that's true. And the other way around for numbers after the decimals. So 5,5 for us is what 5.5 is for most of those west from us.

Yeah, I'm used to read numbers like 5.000,50
If the number of digits after the period were not exactly 3 I would've never made that mistake ^^ I'm sorry.

Oh, and if you want precision, go to switzerland.

If you want real beer, come to Germany or better Bavaria. ;)

the number of times I had to edit my last post proves that precision can't be our speciality -.-

Naw - who do you think upped the time limit on editing w/o leaving an edit notice to 15 minutes?  It's because I love precision but not edit notices.

Edit: Do I hear some Bavarian patriotism talking there?

You do. What is strange since I wasn't born here. My parents just moved to Bavaria when I was about 3 years old. However I can identify much better with Bavaria than with Germany itself (not only because of Germanys history).

Bavaria was still it's own place, technically, 100 years ago.  Had its own individual army and all.  Germany was a rather ad-hoc development under Bismarck until the Weimar Republic.

But I'm telling you stuff you know...

German history appearantly isn't your strong suit. Only a century ago? ;lol

Yeah.  Ad-hoc federation developed in the 1800s under the Kaiser until after WWI, same monarch, actually different states.  I read up on this a few months ago - you sure I got it wrong?

Hitler was a corporal in the Army of the Principality of Bavaria, not "Germany".

And since WW2 Bavaria is one of three states that bankroll whole Germany (its getting better though). I honestly think we profited a lot from the fact we were in the American occupation zone. However, Germany is still more of a buerocratic mess than a real country if you ask me (there are really strange things if you dig deep into what Germany is nowadays).

Could've sworn the text in that post was a bit different at the time I posted... ;cute

Actually Bavaria became part of Germany in 1870 IIRC. But at the same time it remained "Kingdom Bavaria" until 19-something.

Right.  I'm working from casual memory.  We're actually down to quibbling over technicalities...

[shrugs] I may have edited for clarity after you saw but before you posted.

Germany wasn't a real country until the treaty of Versailles; it was a linguistic/cultural/region label, mostly under the wildly-fluctuating Holy Roman Empire -which lasted until the early 1800s- and got divided between the Prussian Hohenzollerns and the Austrian Habsburgs when the HRE went away.

Like much in life, it's complicated...
