Title: Game stops creating new units

Hello!

I´ve always had a specific problem with SMACX and never really tought asking the opinion of more advanced and experienced players of this wonderful game, until now.  The problem I always face begins, I think, because I like to play in an expansive style (many, MANY cities) and, consequently, many units. I have todo a lot of micromanagement but for me this is just part of the fun. Now comes the problem: sooner of later, because of too many units (Usually I play with the pirates, so I have a lot of sea formers and skimship suppliers) the game simply stops creating more units. If in a specific city, for example, I know I´ll have a sea colony pod by the next turn, then, in this next turn not only I don´t get the unit but the count of turns to produce "another" starts again. And this goes on and on (buying the unit doesn´t solve)... So, when the game comes to this, I simply can´t produce anything... military units, formers, colony pods... nothing!

Does anyone here knows about this problem? I´m not sure if this is caused by some bug or I just demanded too much from the game. I really appreciate any thoughts on this ( and will be grateful to know if there´s some way to solve the problem).

I´m playing a new game since last sunday and soon I´ll be at this point... I´m sure it will happen again, then I´ll post the save here. Thanks!

IIRC, there's an upper limit to the amount of units the game permits to exist. Don't recall if Yitzi's unofficial patch increased this number or fixed it.

I used the game editor to speed things up and... Now I´m oficially confused...

I started playing again as I said, but this time instead of creating a new "custom map size", as I always did, I went for the "huge map of planet"... and the game   didn´t show any problem (yet).

Currently I have 237 units (mostly formers and suppliers) and 48 cities. I´m not using YITZI´s patch this time but it didn´t work either when I used it (so I reinstalled and used only the last official patch from GOG). I´m starting to think that the custom alleatory numbers I used in my old custom maps might caused this problem somehow...

As soon as the problem show itself I´ll post here again.

There is a maximum number, after which new units are not created; changing this behavior without causing bigger bugs would be a fairly serious undertaking.  I don't remember offhand what that number is, but 237 sounds quite low...
