Title: Civilization Beyond Earth press reviews (all links here)
Post by: sisko on October 23, 2014, 07:49:50 PM
Here's a list of Civilization Beyond Earth reviews.
Please let us know if you find any that aren't listed and we will add them bellow.

Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/civilization-beyond-earth-review/1900-6415923/)  Score: 7/10 Conclusion: The more things change, the more they stay the same, then; a journey to a planet halfway across the universe reaffirming the draw of the same old creature comforts--a plot of land, and just one more turn.

PCGamer (http://www.pcgamer.com/civilization-beyond-earth-review/)   Score: 87/100    Conclusion: "Although its foundation in Civ 5 makes it familiar, Beyond Earth is full of interesting surprises that are pleasantly difficult to master."

IGN (http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/10/23/civilization-beyond-earth-review)   Score: 7.9/10   Conclusion: "Beyond Earth is nowhere near the strongest game in the more than 20-year-old Civilization series, but this big collection of interesting experimental ideas definitely still kept me playing long after I should’ve gone to bed. The Affinities and streamlined military upgrade system, and a colorful change of scenery make it worth the time to figure out the difference between Protogenetics and Surrogacy, and suffering through temperamental alien wildlife."

Giant Bomb (http://www.giantbomb.com/reviews/sid-meiers-civilization-beyond-earth-review/1900-680/)   Score: 3/5   Conclusion: Beyond Earth is more a glimpse of potential greatness--the sort that would come from future updates--and less a great game in its own right.

Gameranx (http://www.gameranx.com/features/id/24808/article/review-civilization-beyond-earth/)   Score: 10/10   Conclusion: . If you ever want to play another game again, this series is not for you. But, if you had to pick only one to play for the rest of your life, Civilization: Beyond Earth would be a solid choice. The various factions and Affinities will ensure multiple, robust playthroughs, each presenting unique scenarios that will encourage the player to strategize in challenging new ways with each file. I look forward to my next 400 hours with the game.

Polygon (http://www.polygon.com/2014/10/23/6880933/civilization-beyond-earth-review-pc)   Score: 9/10   Conclusion: "Civilization: Beyond Earth successfully injects new life into Sid Meier's long-running strategy series"

Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/10/23/civilization-beyond-earth-review-buy-in-alpha-centauri/)    Score: 4/5   Conclusion: "Civilization: Beyond Earth is a good game in the context of the Civilization franchise. It moves to the interesting mechanics faster than any entry in the series to date and everything within the game world looks great. A lot of time went into making the new planet pop visually, if only so much care had gone into the presentation around it."

PC World (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2836759/civilization-beyond-earth-review-absolutely-stellar.html)   Score: 4.5/5    Conclusion: "The space-themed Beyond Earth is polished, deep, and addictive—what more could you want from a Civilization game?"

Gamereactor (http://www.gamereactor.eu/reviews/265924/Civilization%3A+Beyond+Earth/)   Score: 9/10   Conclusion: "I can't remember when I last enjoyed a Civilization game as much as I have enjoyed Beyond Earth. I'm itching to jump on it again, raise the difficulty a notch or two, and see how fast my plans go down the toilet as I try to mount a panic-stricken comeback. It's an excellent strategy game, and despite minor problems it deserves a warm recommendation."

Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-10-23-sid-meiers-civilization-beyond-earth-review)   Score: 8/10   Conclusion: "Inevitably, it's not really a game about space and aliens, even though it effortlessly got me googling Bracewell probes and the Great Attractor. Like the best SF, Beyond Earth is about humanity - more so, perhaps, than Civ itself is. Here comes Earth, eh? So filled with contradictory certainties and lofty dogma, so ready to forget its principles when greed takes over. The wider mechanics, meanwhile - with that web, those quests, all those new choices - are emphatically concerned with distracting you from your dogma and even your self-interest, with distracting you from one strategy by offering so many others."

Gamesradar (http://www.gamesradar.com/sid-meiers-civilization-beyond-earth-review/)   Score: 4/5   Conclusion: "Civilization: Beyond Earth may seem a bit too familiar for a game supposedly set on a distant planet, but the roving packs of aliens and the new quest system make it an expedition worth embarking on."

Escapist Magazine (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/editorials/reviews/12483-Sid-Meier-s-Civilization-Beyond-Earth-Review)   Score: 3/5   Conclusion: An overall solid turn-based strategy game that suffers from information overload resulting in analysis paralysis for the player, Beyond Earth has a few really interesting systems but ultimately doesn't transcend those mechanics into something unique or awe-inspiring. Recommendation: Civ fans will enjoy the sci-fi aesthetic and new features, but Beyond Earth is far from a classic.

Destructoid (http://www.destructoid.com/review-sid-meier-s-civilization-beyond-earth-282814.phtml)   Score: 9/10   Conclusion: "Superb: A hallmark of excellence. There may be flaws, but they are negligible and won't cause massive damage to what is a supreme title."

Videogamer (http://www.videogamer.com/reviews/sid_meiers_civilization_beyond_earth_review.html) Score: 8/10   Conclusion: While it may well feel unfair to use the phrase ‘Civ 5 in space’, there’s still plenty of that title here. Civilization: Beyond Earth, like its predecessor, is still a game that can see you rushing through multiple turns almost on auto-pilot, something which becomes particularly obvious in campaigns like the one I just described.

Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com/article/86822/civilization-beyond-earth-review-humanitys-end)   Score: 7/10   Conclusion: "Despite its faults, Civilization: Beyond Earth does fulfill its promise to take you to a distant world, where you'll find exotic alien life, meet future leaders of mankind... and conquer them."

Metro.co.uk (http://metro.co.uk/2014/10/23/sid-meiers-civilization-beyond-earth-review-alpha-2-bravo-4918006/) Score: 8/10   Conclusion: "An excellent spin-off that uses the science fiction setting to focus and expand the gameplay in interesting new ways, and yet remains as accessible and thoughtful as ever."

HardcoreGamer (http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2014/10/23/review-sid-meiers-civilization-beyond-earth/113428/)   Score: 4.5/5    Conclusion: "It must be an interesting challenge for developers of a series so focused on history to tackle questions of humanity’s future. Obviously both subjects tap into many of the same sources, but where most Civilization games explore who we are, Beyond Earth systemizes who we could be. This is a work of speculative fiction that allows the player to speculate for themselves, starting from a similar place each time but potentially reaching vastly different conclusions. It’s also a tightly-designed, well-balanced 4X game that is sure to consume many gamers’ free time in the coming months and years. That’s one bit of speculation I’m confident in."

GameSkinny (http://www.gameskinny.com/6th3o/civilization-beyond-earth-review)   Score: 7/10   Conclusion:  I give this game a seven because it was released as a full, new game. It delivers like a significant expansion to Civilization V. There are some new features that are neat like the technology web, but the painful neon colors and difficulty distinguishing advancements on the tech web really hamper what could be a much more enjoyable experience. Knowing Firaxis, it won't take long for a patch and then an expansion to really improve the game.

Not a review but an article in one of France's main newspapers.
AS I don't know where to put it, I let you move it where it belongs (maybe a second post listing articles  talking not about the playability of this game but about its content?)
