Title: Beyond Avatars - taking requests
Post by: Buster's Uncle on October 20, 2014, 01:16:23 AM
(http://alphacentauri2.info/MGalleryItem.php?id=747)

The 34 BE avatars above have been installed in a BE avatar folder you can access from your user account (Forum Profile>check Choose avatar from gallery>[Beyond Earth]).  I'm going to redo the bare faction logos, BTW - they look awful. [Done! Boy, that was a lot of work.]

I'm also taking requests for more BE avatars.  Make my life easier by posting or image-linking pictures you want converted here, and don't make me google or open new tabs; doing the work is work enough, without a lot of searching. (For SMACX or other avatars, pester me in the avatar thread in Council Room (http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=1316.0)).

More ideas and images to avatarize for the gallery folder would be welcome...

I've fixed the bare logos for Franco-Iberia, Pan-Asian Cooperative, and Brasilia; all are in the gallery.  I'll update the pic in the OP when I've gotten all of them, but it takes a while - each has to be totally redrawn so far.

Nice. :)

The intro lookout window looks iconic enough to me to give it a try.

Alien portraits and Affinity symbols? (He says hopefully)

Okay, refresh your browser if you've already seen the pic in the OP; it's updated.  I've added all of this morning's new avatars to the user avatar gallery, and fixed versions of all the faction logos but the Russians - I been working on them all day, and need a long break before I tackle all that wheat.

We're up to 45 BEvatars, and counting...

Regarding the redone sponsor logo's: much better. ;b;

I should hope so - that's about nine hours' work, one pixel at a time.

Okay, I got the Slavic Federation done, and uploaded.  Time to refresh the shot in the OP again - and/or just check it out in the user gallery.

These bare logos would make nice SMACX faction logos - in fact, I've already seen half the elements I'd need for faction graphics - I haven't seen bases for each, and diplomacy landscape images would be needed.

Interesting.

Nothing about rotating affinities?

Well, i don't get it! Why rotating?

[Shrugs]  Geo's suggestion.  I'll put up non-animated versions.

No requests?
Hmm.  I just realized that I uploaded the three latest affinity avatars to the wrong place in the gallery.  -An oversight now corrected.

---

I notice that we have over twice as many BE avatars as the other two Civ forums where I've checked - bring on those requests, and let's run up the score...

It's this (http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=12634.0;attach=13033;image) one. Perhaps too much details in the whole thing? Bad lighting to work with?

It might not look like much reduced, but I can adjust the lighting and the angle.  We'll see.

Don't bother with the text in the logo though. Just in case you thought of making a carbon copy.

It struck me funny Friday, when I checked by CFC, and found a page-top announcement that they'd added 13 avatars - which brings their BE gallery to 24.

I MADE 13 BE avatars Friday, bringing OUR BE avatar gallery to 62.

Hmm.
I think I'd have a good time gaian-ing or just messing with some of these faces in GIMP.
Might post a result of that later. But don't expect it for a while, I won't be having access to GIMP over the weekend.

Going to try and do this. Maybe GIMP will actually start.

Frick. Think I can do it in paint?

Mmm... I can totally see like the Enterprise floating above that BE platform.
I did this in Paint.net. Which is significantly better than paint, but still sucks compared to GIMP. For one, if you copy an image the transparency around it copies too...
And there is no way to change that

It doesn't matter as I'm gong back to PC later today.  But gimp crashes and i can't fix it on the craptop.

Better then I expected.
I thought you would try a sideview of the Enterprise like the smilie BUncle made some time ago. But this angle comes over much better.

I would've made the enterprise bigger, but the scale would make the platform almost to small to notice I suspect.

I do not promise to spare everyone by never throwing on either version of Ms. Swift again, but they are uploaded to appropriate places in the user galley now.

---

I just created an Astronomy folder and uploaded six newly-created (150x!) Pluto/New Horizons avatars, with more to come very soon.  Running down all the space stuff in miscellaneous and moving will take a little longer.

Check it out. ;nod

(Could add a BE platform or something...)

Make that [Astronomy & Spaceflight] - 80 avatars in there now, which took a while to sort and move out of miscellaneous.  I threw in Einstein, Hubble and Newton for good measure.
