If you regularly follow geek culture, you've probably seen early versions of Dirk Loechel's spaceship comparison chart, which shows the relative sizes of vehicles from science fiction games, movies and TV shows. Well, it's finished -- and it's even more authoritative than the last time around. Get the full-size version and you'll see Babylon 5's Vorlon Planet Killer, Mass Effect's Normandy and seemingly everything in between. The chart even includes a real vessel, the International Space Station -- at 328 feet long, it seems downright puny next to its make-believe counterparts. Some story franchises have better representation than others (EVE is full of colossal ships), and you won't see moon-sized spacecraft like Star Wars' Death Star, but it's otherwise hard to imagine a more complete view of sci-fi transportation.

The pic embiggens slightly when you click on it, but not nearly enough.

Call me when someone works up a version with all the bull[poop]from games I've never heard of thrown out...

...Also - this is a penis-measuring contest for whose franchise pulled the most ridiculous numbers out of their butt...

So I imagine all of these are smaller than Death Stars and Borg Cubes?

A Borg cube about halfway down on the right edge - no Death Star.  I think they're all smaller than the latter...

Thanks, I obviously overlooked it.

Here's a space ship time line-

What's that big one at 48,000 BC ?

Those aren't to scale - and it left out when the Lexx showed up right before the end of the world.

That explains it! I never watched that one.

It's all happened before and will again.

The original ended up being better, for all its many, many, many flaws.

Yeah.
But even the original one had its fair share of flaws. ;)
Then again, TV shows were simply made different back then. Look at TOS for instance.

The problem with the BSG remake was that they had nothing to say after the miniseries - and ultimately, not a soul on the entire show was likeable.  Bleh.  No nihilism in my escapist fantasies.

So they failed the basic "Do you care about the characters?" test ?

Not at first - but I was rootin' for the Cylons by the end of the first season.

But only barely, 'cause they sucked, too.

Half point for that.  He was just taking up space.  Not a jerk, but not likeable - a little pathetic.

The biggest seem to be in the double-digit km; the Death Star is big enough to be confused for a moon.

So yeah, they're all way smaller than the Death Star; I don't think the Death Star would even fit on the chart.

I can see he looks a little tame compared to the team you were routing for. I mean, the term "multiple personality disorder" gets a whole new meaning with the humanoid Cylons.
