OK, not to knock Sid or anything, but the real man with the plan is none other than Brian Reynolds !!! I mean, we still must thank Sid for creating the basics of Civ, but he has his name all over everything, and he has gotten a million and one thank you's by now I'm sure. Meanwhile, it was Brian who did most of the work for Civ 2, just as it will be him who is most responsible for SMAC (BRAC ???) ... anyways, I just wanted to give Brian a little credit as he deserves tons !!! Actually, thinking about it, I take that back, he deserves DEATH !!! Think of all the hours we all wasted playing Civ 2 !!! It was a digital narcotic !!! LOL .. He ruined my life ... I live only for Civ 2 !!! I have dropped all my other life priorities !!! Brian ... shame on you for actually creating nirvana !!! You made the world's most effective time machine .. I sit in front of my computer, next thing I know, it's 36 hours later, and I'm calling work for the 8th time of the month to say I'll be in after my next turn !!! I almost hope SMAC sucks, because if it does to me even half of what Civ 2 did to me, life as I know it will cease to exist !!! I will lose my friends, my job .. everything !!! Anyways, Brian ... thanks for taking us to paradise .. for giving us a taste of perfection !!! I'm only guessing that BRAC will take us to CLOUD 10 (the one after Cloud 9 !!!) ... Thanks for SMAC/BRAC !!! BTW, I'm thanking you in advance simply because I will no longer recognise this "real" world once the game is released !!! So, once again ... Thanks for Alpha Centauri !!! Yours truly, Arif M. AKA DJ RRebel I suggest to anyone who will lose their "lives" once Alpha Centauri is released to post here now, before it's too late !!! PS .. this club has no political positions, only FANATICS !!! |

All fanatics have political positions........You're just begging for a BR post. Right DJ?? I don't blame you, I did something like this in late July, when Brian posted some info in The Factions forum for the CoFH. I started a thread called 'BRIAN REYNOLDS POSTED IN *INSERT TITLE HERE*'. BR responded, then Apoc yelled at me, then Jimbo blabbered something about not posting to raise your post count, but he posted that sentence in 3 seperate posts. Ahh, memories! No YYYH, I don't care if he doesn't post here, I just want people to realise that no matter how great Sid is, it is really Brian who gave us Civ 2 and SMAC !!!  And that I recognise that !!! I'd just be happy to knw he saw this thread, and I can wait until the demo for any additional info !!! |

LOL .. I know Sid is great .. what I'm saying is that Brian is also great !!! And where as I realise that from a marketing point of view, it's Sid's name on the box, I want Brian to know that at least some of us realise that SMAC/BRAC is primarily a result of Brian's (and the rest of his team who shall only remain nameless because I don't know their names !!!) hard work !!! And as it is Sid's name is on the box, I want people to realise that in all reality, it should be Brians ... yet I really don't mean that in a Sid bashing way what-so-ever .. Sid developed in what my opinion is the greatest game of all time .. so yes, thanks Sid, but also, THANK YOU BRIAN .. I just think people may sometimes not be aware of the fact that Brian is the Head Programmer for SMAC, simply because it's called SMAC (Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri), when in reality, from all the information I have, it really is BRAC !!! OK .. that's it .. I have nothing more to say !!! |

LOL .. heck no !!! I'm trying to finish as much of my web site as I can before the big day that I lose my life !!! !!! LOL .. Anyways, I've waited this long, what's a couple more days !!! I still have to expand my SMAC section in the next few days !!! As much as I hate the wait, I need it ... my site is getting much better by the day !!! I've been trying to find a way to get music on my site, I didn't really want the legal hastles of MP3s, I finally found Cool Edit .. I'm just about to install it so I can transfer some actual tunes to my site !!! For those of you who've visited my site so far, you know that I have lots of sound files of the simpsons, south park etc .. but those are all small ... I'm only allowed 10megs on my site !!! Anyways ... what's my point, yes, before the demo comes out, I have to write up an little section for SMAC, and transfer my top 10 to RAM files !!! Why am I defending myself ??? This thread is for Brian anyways !!! So stop complaining about me, and start being thankful to Brian !!! |

Yes, Brian Reynolds has done a lot to destroy my life, but he has done it with stile. I'll gladly join this list and send my thanks in advance. After the demo I dont excist in this world anymore. THX! Brian + all the rest for quality games! |

It's 4:33 AM in Roswell, NM and I've finally gotten to the point that i could get away from Civ2.... Must mean I lack dedication... Thanks, Brian! I mean it! Sincerely! Sort of... GO BoB!!! |
