SMAC has mastered, and Brian is now open for questioning, according to what he said on the usenet. So, here are my questions.1.Is mutually-assured destruction modeled in diplomacy?
In Civilization I, the AI never used nukes, and in in Civilization II the commanders of their Strategic Rocket Forces apparently had 20-30 different cups of coffee based on the frequency of nuclear war. I hope SMAC finds a middle-ground between these two.
2. Will there be pre-set diplomatic attitudes betwee factions, a la MOO? I.E. will the Spartans and Hive hate each other because of Yang's abduction?
3.Sanctions can be set, but can other aspects of trade policy? I.E. can the Spartans, presumably isolationists, decide to set super-high tariffs?
4.How big will the manual be? I like massive manuals
5.How will weapons of massive destruction, like singularity bombs be handled with the customizable units? Will you have a "missile" chassis and be allowed to determine what type of warhead you put on it?
6.What kind of terrain improvements can you make? How many types of improvements will enhance transportation of units, improvement of resources, and increasing energy production, etc.
7.Early previews mentioned the ability to improve the Alpha Centauri system. You have mentioned orbital combat in previous posts. Were these scrapped early prototypes of SMAC or are they still part of the game? If so, will you be able to build orbital bases which can engage in planetary bombardement? Will you be able to send asteroids flying towards the planet, a la the Centauri using mass drivers?
Those are all the questions I can think of now. I urge other SMACers proffer their questions as well.
