geez!!! they said the 16th last month! then they say the 20th this month!
did i tell you guys or what!! the hell with this game! i'm gonna go buy buldar's gate....

First, I believe that they always prefaced announcements with something like "we hope that the demo will be available at..." or "we expect the demo to...".
I don't think I ever read anyone saying "We promise on penalty of death that you will have the demo for..."
Secondly, I'm glad you're going. You don't sound like a very nice person so now I won't have to worry about running into you in multiplayer.
Finally, go look up the word "patience" in the dictionary. It's an interesting concept that you are obviously not acquintated with.

Trev, go back and look at some of those posts you were referring to. Try *reading* them. I know the concept must be foreign to you, but try it sometime, it's quite enlightening. They have been telling us for some time that the date the demo should ready is the 20th. NOT the 16th. They did say at one point that it *might* be put out early, maybe as early as the 15th, but that didn't happen.
What DID happen is that the demo was ready a day early, as hoped, but now Origin is testing it, and it will be available for download early/mid week, next week. Now, kindly go take a chill pill and leave Firaxis alone, okay? Hell, they only spent the last two years working on this for our benefit.

I personnally agree with everyone about patience. But I think the more important topic is that they are taking the time to test out a demo! Most companies don't even do that for the final game.
I would rather wait a week or two more for a solid demo so I can see how the game plays without error messages so I can make a final decision. Plus you know that whatever changes they make to the demo will for sure go into final version. I applaud Firaxis and the whole team for taking the time to make quality products.

Trev, once you have been waiting for 10 months or more, give me a yell. Yep, I've been here since January or February. And there's a handful of others that have been here almost as long.
Personally, I can wait another 10 months if it will make for a perfect game. And I can certainly go another three days without badgering Firaxis for the game.

Hey Trev its OK, You just blurted out what the rest of us were thinking. All of us would have liked to have the demo a month ago, just like you. A lot of us have been around these BB's for a long time. (I started following this game in early March when the release was slated for June/ July !!!!!) Most people here feel that the game should be released when it is finished and not before. If that means demo in April and final release in May, then alot of us are prepared to wait for it. You have to understand that back in March , April & May Firaxis would say "OK people give us some feedback on ......." or " what is your opinion of ....." So in a way some of us feel like we gave something to the game, and because it is a part of us, we want that game to be the best it can be. Irregardless of the time frame. Don't worry we will all see it soon.

Well it's refreshing to hear people waiting on a game when the designers say it's ready and not moaning and complaining enough that a game is released before it's ready.
Having been a CIV player since about 3 days after the origional came out I can hardly wait for this one, but, I am happy to wait till it's the best they can do..
In the meantime I have to finish M&M6, lol..

I just hope the demo will be posted before 3 PM (GMT +2) on dec 23th, or I won't be able to DL it at work (80 kb/sec), and will have to DL it at home (7 kb/sec)...

Well, coming back to the Demo topic, i have to partly agree with Trev. It is anoying when people say they will release it That day, and you wait for it and then they say you have to wait longer. For christ's sake, they are adults, they should be able to answer for their promises. And the excuse that they are testing it doesn't sound very good. Either its ready, meaning it loads, has all the necassary elements in it, and is fully tested, or its not. So its not.

You're obviously not a programmer, Anarchy. You also didn't read their messages very well.. never once did they promise we'd be able to play the demo on X date in December.
They said it would be *READY* on X day, the 20th specifically.
It was ready, completed, and shipped off to Origin *early* - now the ball is in their court, not Firaxis'.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. It would have been much much better if Firaxis announced a later date in advance (say end of February), but then surprised us and shipped it earlier instead of doing otherwise.

It's worth waiting.. and in a way it's fun.. u see a lot of happenings ( like YYYH 1000th post..EVENT!! )
it's also fun to see all the newcomers..their reactions and all the questions they have..
All I can say is: patience... It will come.. and u'll learn to wait if it' doesn't arrive the 24th...we did......
