If you are interested in playing SMAC as a multiplayer game, you may also be interested in finding reliable players for your games:
1) players who don't cheat
2) players who don't disconnect in the middle of the game (unless all players agree)
3) players who are respectful of other players
If you can abide by these three simple guidelines, then you are welcome in:

There is a section to announce a game you are planning as well as an ICQ LIST section. Granted, this will not be too much use until the game is released (in February??), but many may wish to start planning ahead already (it seems like we have been waiting for years sometimes, but it will be worth it for a stable bug free game).

Jeez ... has it been that long? I checked, and it was back on October 1, 1998 that I set up the RELIABLE ALPHA CENTAURI PLAYERS site! Only 3 people joined (maybe because I never announced it, think that might be why?)
This idea may be similar to that of Jimbo2, but I'm not sure (note: this is not a "league" or a "clan"). My info page explains it and give you the passcode to get in. In any case, we have a good month or so before multiplayer is available in the full game, so there is plenty of time to get things worked out.
