they jumped the timer from about 10.000.000 to about 45.000.000 , a jump of about 4 days. This means the demo will be out dec 24 (going to work on fitting it under the tree)1.00 in the morning in Denmark (CET, thats dec 23 19.00 in washington DC)I wonder if my family will miss me for x-mas? By the way, I just saw that I am no. 1 in the ealpha centauri zone quiz contest

We sent the demo off to Origin earlier tonight (Friday); I expect they'll test it over the weekend and you should see it up sometime early-to-mid week.Brian Reynolds Alpha Centauri Designer FIRAXIS Games

Haha!! I love it!! We'll soon be playing the demo, while our families drink egg-nog, open presents, & drink hot chocolate while watching the Clinton impeachment thing!! Brilliant strategy....Maybe I should drink some of that egg-nog while playing the game Your faithful & hell-bent NIMadier general, YYYH |

Yo, no egg-nog. You will become an egg-head, join the UoP and write stuff like this:"If one examines Habermasian discourse, one is faced with a choice: either reject conceptualist rationalism or conclude that society has objective value. Several narratives concerning postsemanticist discourse exist. Therefore, the subject is interpolated into a Habermasian discourse that includes reality as a reality. Foucault's model of the textual paradigm of context holds that language is used to exploit the Other." Do you really want that ? |

I just had a dreadful thought: what if the people at origin who play ,oopps meant to say test, the game get completely hooked and can't stop, and we never get it. |

Yes, what's wrong with that Roland? Where'd you get that lovely piece of verse from?AUH20: Fall over dramatically, you can draw a foul and get the other guy kicked out for a short period of time, assuming it's a game like that you're playing (unless they flagrantly beat you up and not even try to conceal it as a check within a game). |

They don't even pretend that it's a game, and my teacher invariably gets there ten or fifteen minutes after we get out of the locker room, so I'm defenseless. |

Centaurion: "aha" meant to imply the question: where in Austria and what for (skiing ?). Just curious...Yo, you got me. I've always been a Canadian and I'm hiding somewehre in the US in a dustbin with internet access. But you'll never find me !!! "What kid of Alta Vista translator do you have??" Tried the babelfish on altavista ? It's so ridiculous, it makes me cry...example: "Which does not kill you, makes only harder you!" The german original would mean: "Things that don't kill you only make you tougher!" Which "verse" ? The habermasian stuff ? It's from an essay on the conflict of methods in science... |

Ha! The Habermasian stuff looks like it's created by one of those thesis autogenerators... Y'know, linguistic programs which put together lots of fancy words, creating quite impenetrable essays which tend to mention Foucault more than what would be strictly necessary.. Try "The automatic complaint-letter generator" at http://www-csag.cs.uiuc.edu/individual/pakin/complaint, it's a similar thing. I heard there is one creating bogus mission statements as well - some US students were given the task of creating a mission statement for their university. One guy turned in an autogenerated one, and did of course get an A. DCA, I don't know just where I'm going |

Check out dilbert.com for the meaningless mission generator, and some (possibly true) stories about it being used with good results at some US universities. |
