I am really concerned if the demo will live upto the hive, actually after playing the demo of turn based or RTS games, it feels that you get all from them and you don't need the full version, this happens mainly like the games civilization and age of empires, here you have to continue in a sequence not in episodes as total annihilation, so playing the demo of SMAC can result in something unpleasent, I don't know but as a die hard fan of civilization I am concerned about what the demo will have to offer, and should I download it or not?

#1 rule, have faith in Firaxis. Sid & Brian worked on Civ2, and are also working on Smac, so you can expect only the best from them. As for the demo, it doesn't matter if you download it, just buy the FRIKKIN GAME !!! ~DHE, heh heh, nice marketing pitch |

I wouldn't worry too much. For one thing, the basic demo download is going to be missing a bunch of stuff (animations, sounds, etc.) so there should still be some "eye candy" left for the final product. Also, most people are betting that the demo will be crippled in some way (I think a max turn limit is what we'll see) so that should leave lots of stuff to explore. Plus, we'll have the ability to design our own units, so that alone should add tons to the replay value. I know that I played the original Civ at least a couple hundred times. I doubt that playing the SMAC demo is going to ruin the final game too much. |
