I had no idea what to put in the subject sorry.
OK I am a civ, civ 2 player that recently found about a litte project called CALL TO POWER. I found it through the Apolyton site which I think is great. Anyway CALL TO POWER seems to be on the rocks, and I can see why. I'm optomistic, thats how i found this page, through the apolyton ctp forum...enough about that
lets talk about SMAC!
I saw the screenshots and saw some of the story parts and I am very impressed. But I still don't see much info about the basic game. Are there roads/irrigation military units? PARK RANGERS? (lol)
Another thing... someone said Brian Reynolds did CTP but someone else said he is doing SMAC, which is it?
One of the best things about civ 2 was the scenarios idea. I love scenarios, they have kept my interest in the game for two years. Will there be scenarios in SMAC???

IMHO the best place to find a summary of features, units, etc. is the Beyond Alpha Centauri site:

Look through the Encyclopedia under the Game Info tab on the front page.
Another comprehensive site is the Alpha Centauri Zone:

For stuff on scenarios, check out the designer diaries at gamespot, www.gamespot.com. In one of them they discuss scenarios as a way of shortening multiplayer games with prebuilt factions and goals.
Road/Irrigation units: They've seperated the functions of a settler. A colony pod can found new cities and terraformers alter the land.
