Misinformation is an important part of war. It allows for bluffs, and strategic uses. How about a tech that either allows you to build in a misinformation special ability or create a unit able to exercise this at your command. The ability would either make it impossible for enemies to identify the nature of a unit/stack by hazing the picture, or disguise it as a diff unit(s). This disguise would only end when the target enters combat.

BG: While cloaking is related to misinformation(and partially covers what he's talking about), I think he's talking more about making your scouts look like big bad MBT's of vice versa. Or, just obscure the scouts enough that the other faction has to worry about them. |

Yes, Spoe is right. That's exactly what I mean by misinformation. It makes things less predictable and gameplay more intricate. Levels upon levels of truths and deceptions. |

Nothing like 5 megalith ultra death tank units manning your base, scaring opponents from even wasting units on attemping to take it, when they are really all 0/1/0 decoys. In order to prevent masses of illusions that make predicting enemy concentration nigh on impossible, there would either have to be a fairly high price on building decoys or have the ability to put a detector on some units (for a price, of course) that would detect what they really are.P.S. It would be difficult to program AI to intelligently interpert these things. Rang, I nomiate you to put this idae in the reasonable questions for Firaxis thread. |

Confusion is extremely useful. You may know that your enemy doesn't have that many military units because his military position is lower than yours on the powergraph. But which are the real units you should worry about, and which are the decoys? Should you call his bluff? This adds an extra dimension to military campaigns and diplomatic negotiations (where you have to gauge your enemy). The precautions mentioned by Snowfire should definitely be include to prevent this feature from getting out of hand. |
