The following was taken from the Spartan Field Manual FM-101. It is a description of the basic unit of the Spartan Legion, the 10-man squad.

The squad is the basic building block of the Legion. It is composed of ten men. There are 3 non-commissioned officers and seven enlisted. The squad leader holds the rank of "dekarch". The dekarch is then followed by the "pentatarch", who is then followed by the "tetrarch" thus the squad being composed of 10 men is lead by a commander-of-ten, hence the rank of "dekarch". The squad is further sub-divided into 2 fire-teams. The senior fire-team is composed of 5 men and is led by the "pentatarch", thus his rank denotes him as a commander-of-five. The junior fire-team is led by the "tetrarch", and it can therefore be seen that his rank implies he is the commander-of-four.

Each fire-team has a heavy machine-gunner. The machine-gunner has his assistant who carries his spare ammunition along with his own. The five-man fire-team thus a machine-gunner, an assistant, and 3 riflemen, including the "pentatarch". Whereas the four-man fire-team has a machine-gunner, his assistant, and 2 riflemen, including the "tetrarch"

That is the most top heavy order I've ever seen. Close to 1/3rd officers? Are you nuts? Do you know how many officers that is in a full regiment? Why would you want to take that many men out of the fight? I would suggest the following.

10 man Squad

1 Senior NCO (tactics, comm)
1 Junior NCO (medic, gopher)
2 man heavy weapons unit A (rocket launcher)
2 man heavy weapons unit B (squad support auto)
4 riflemen/scouts

Standard formation in hostile territory is square inside diamond with the officers in the center.

This means that in a tactical situation the riflemen are spread and able to provide annoyance fire while the heavy weapons come to bear. This order is designed for current tech level as communications within the squad is mainly via hand signals, with better communcations gear decrease the officer to enlisted ratio.

Heckler: You obviously didn't read correctly. I said 3 NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS, or in other words 3 NCOs. There are no officers at the squad level. The ranks would roughly correspond as one sergeant i.e. the "dekarch" and two corporals. The senior corporal being the "pentatarch" and the junior the "tetrarch".

Heckler: The squad you have proposed specializes some positions. You have the squad leader as the only one knowledgeable in "tactics and comm". That would only be very detrimental. Should the squad leader be taken out. Whic happens...then your squad has no knowledge of tactics and communications.

In the basic Spartan squad all squadmembers are well versed in small unit tactics and communications. These are skills taught and practiced until proficiency has been gained. From Boot Camp to School of Infantry these skills are taught and practiced. These are not the only skills taught. Map reading, land navigation with and without a compass. Hand-to-hand combat, and basic first-aid. These are few amongst many of the skills that the Federation Legionaires are taught.

As you can see your squad would be cripled from the onset should any of the NCOs be taken out. Whereas in the Spartan squad the next senior man picks up command and still perform his job or for that manner any squadmember can do the same down to the "boot" enlisted.
