You probably already know this, but www.alphacentauri.com has been down for a while. So poor people like me who were at mock trial practice when the story was posted, and the server subsequently stopped working, can't read the next episode.

Or debate practice, SnowFire. Lousy L-D.

It's up again now.

I esp like this quote from Diedre:
"Unless, of course, other struggles passed here, struggles undreamed of in our human-centric universe. Unless slumbering demons of Planets own await us, beneath its strange and alien sky."

And when the earth seemed to speak to her. Sets the stage for the alien life, and the sentience of Planet nicely. Also I think raises the question of Earth's sentience, though maybe not deliberately nor directly. =)

Brother Greg.

I think have the planet being sentient will deter from the tactical feel of the game and give it more of a cosy feel !!! I hope this isn't the case !!!

This, like the multi-player turn sequencing will have a distinguishing impression on the over-all feel of the game !!! I'm simply too curious to wait any longer !!!

Oh yes, one more comment, I think the little bit about "Earth-Being" was a little tacky, but the rest is going well, the last few chapters have all been character development !!!

I'd really like to see a writer's diary !!!

I'm curious as to what the writer of this story has been thinking throughout the story ???

LOL .. I'm beggining to get the feeling that they might actually be listening to us !!!

But I don't know who Tara is, I would have thought they would have used Maya who has stated she'd like to be in PK, UoP or GSD !!!

We've known for months now that Planet is sentient, DJ. =) And I certainly HOPE it takes away from the tactical feel of the game... the very last thing I want SMAC to be is 'just another wargame.' Like Civ and Civ2 before it, it's a hell of a lot more than just that... War, combat and conquest have their place in SMAC beyond a doubt, but they aren't all there is to it. =)

"Like Civ and Civ2 before it!" ???

OK Gord .. hand over the time traveling machine ... what did I tell you about playing with that ???

It's not a toy !!!

As for your comparisons ... I SMAC to essentially be a Future Civ 3 !!!

Why change the closed thing to perfection we can get ???

You can never achieve perfection. It doesn't matter how good a game is there will be possible improvements. Probably the developers will be the most aware of those.

The story was great again. I haven't heard enough about the Spartans recently, what happened to Santiago when she was captured?

I know they'll tell me. I'll be patient.
