Topic: Unit design / automatic upgrade

One thing I am worried about:In Moo2, you could design your own units. When you discovered new technology, the units could be upgraded. However, it had to be done manually for each and every unit. This is the one thing that really bugged me about that game. Therefore: Will it be possible to automatically upgrade units of type X1 to X2 (different but similar designs)? Will it be possible to create unit "templates" so that it is easy to create similar units? In Moo (and Moo2?), the game saved only the latest design, which was irritating when you were constantly upgrading two different designs. How many different designs will be active at a given time?

Firaxis stated over a year ago that yes, you could do an "upgrade in the field" option, whereby all of your units would be upgraded. OR you could upgrade them individually.Yes, you can save "templates", this was also stated by Firaxis ages and ages ago. They didn't mention how many you could store though (or how many were active), but they did say that you couldn't carry them accross games, or export them to other people. Hope that helps. Brother Greg. P.S. Must be hard for anyone new to the board who has a Question like this. Heck, even for some of the 2nd Generation people. I can't imagine there'd be more that a handful of people here that would even remember back when Firaxis posted that little tidbit... |

Well, way back in about January (may have been earlier, I really can't remember) when I first joined, yeah, they really used to join in a bit. Thus my "The good old days and the (current) Age of Silence" thread.I would guess that we had a couple of hundred posts from blokes like Tim Train, letting us know seme details of the game. Then, when the official site opened up, they dropped away. Actually, I think it was a month or two before that, but you get the idea. There are a couple of us around from back then, but not too many. Brother Greg. |

I couldn't imagine that Firaxis would really leave the player with upgrading every single unit. They even didn't do it in Master of Orion 2 Ciao Marian Editor of the Alpha Centauri Zone http://www.juhu.de/hartel/alpha |

Yeah, all time is to me is the 2 numbers, followed by a colon, followed by 2 more numbers & 2 letters, in the corner of my screen. I want an auto upgrade, I hope there's a Leo Workshop type thing in SMAC, individually upgrading every units with one of those repair bays will be more of a haslle.
