Ok if planetfall is at 12:00 a.m. December 20 EST, then when does the demo actually get on the web? The 20th is a Sunday (and midnight is hardly the time), so I doubt we're going to see the demo for some time after that.
Now, it's REALLY BAD for me that the demo comes out AFTER December 19th, because that's the day I will no longer have my spify new computer (I'll be stuck with a 486dx50 :-( ) until January 11th, when I return to school. So while all of you are having fun on the demo, I will be having a real life being with all the people I haven't been with in several months. However, it would be nice to have that demo for all of those down times (like heavy snow. . .wow, snow, they don't have that here in the Sonoran Desert. . .can't wait til I get home)

I'll have gotten into the airport at 6 p.m. I will be driven home (which will take quite a while from that airport. Interestingly enough, the airport I will be landing in is only a few miles away from Firaxis' corporate HQ ) and will eat with my family. I will, after eating, be able to stay up all night talking with friends and family I haven't seen in months. This will all occur in EST, so the ETA landing will occur while I am still awake.
Of course, I will be much too busy going around with good friends I haven't seen (but talked to quite a bit) in several months.
My lack of access to this machine for which I will be able to use SMAC (less than a year old) until Jan. 11th will prohibit SMAC enjoyment. I wish you all the best.

I don't have internet access at my place here, but, I'm going to my parents home for Christmas, and they have an ISDN line, so I should get around Christmas time (maybe, I don't know if i'm going to get the demo, I might just wait for the entire game to come out). I'll probably be visiting friends or family. I doubt that I'm going to log in exactly at midnight just to see if Mike (Ely) is being a martyr and putting the demo up exactly at Planetfall. I'll probably try sometime during the next week if I've nothing else to do.
With any luck, I'll be too busy playing Baldur's Gate. Although, it's looking more like that will be a Christmas present and not something I buy myself...

Let me assure you the mags are pretty slow. Consider about 1 and a half months between the internet demo and the mag demo.

Somehow I doubt that anyone in Firaxis is THAT desperate to release the demo. The person must be out of his mind to stay at work until midnight... but we can all hope.
I am planing on starting the download in the morning and getting it all by the time I'll come back from school.

Since come the 19th I'll have been married exactly one year (well, fairly exactly, but let's not discuss calendars here...), I guess I'll concentrate on my wife...
Also, the 20th is a Sunday, so I won't be at work (I don't have Internet at home (I do have an ongoing lobbying project, though...).), and thus I'll have to wait 'til I get in on Monday morning (approx. 8.30 local time, which would be 6 hrs. less on the other side of the puddle...).
Sort of comparable to the weekly instalments of the story, which I get to read on Tuesday mornings...
