Is fear the one driving force that we as humans actually take notice of. Is it the fear that drives man to new hights? Is it fear that makes me look left, then right, I think so.

Manny, fear is a human quality responsible for so much of what we are today !!!Countless inventions, medications were made out of fear of death of povrety or starvation .. etc etc etc !!! Yet countless wars were started for fear the opposing forces would strike first or from lack of understanding (derived from fear)!!! Without fear, we would be unrecognizable to our current civilization (I love that word)!!! To say fear is good or bad is a mistake, as it is clearly both depending on the situation .. we should learn to recognize our fears however .. this way we wouldn't be so blinded by it !!! I fear pink NIM .. that stuff's dangerous!!! |

Ah no. Pink NIM isn't dangerous. Just don't overdose, and you'll be fine. |

Fear does not govern my existance, for I am an individual and therefore I am. |

Fear... Of course it governs the existance of people less intelligent than average. It's not logically valid, but it works. Read 1984, aiight. You know Salvador Limones? |

Either way, you're better off if you know it's there ... fear is a ralative thing !!!We all fear being in a cage with lions, tigers, bear, killer bees, snakes and spider !!! To say you don't let fear govern you just goes to show you aren't prepared for what life was in store for you !!! Being affraid is ok !!! But you musn't let it make you lose you mind !!! |

"Fear does not govern my existance, for I am an individual and therefore I am." [Manny Calvera]a) "I am [...] and therefore I am" Okay, we can agree on that. But why state the obvious? (The apple is red, therefore it's red) b) "I am an individual and therefore I am" Why the need to specify? And what does it change to a)? c)"Fear does not govern my existance [because] [...] I am." Really? Perhaps it's just me, but I fail to see the logical link here. Sorry, I couldn't not do it... -Maya |

I have no idea what she meant, but I have to disagree (it's just some kind of reflex....) a) "I am [...] and therefore I am" Okay, we can agree on that. But why state the obvious? -- the problem here is: "[...]"; see b) b) "I am an individual and therefore I am" Why the need to specify? And what does it change to a)? -- Only by being an individual you truely "are". This requires the prerequisite that not every human being is an individual. Individual in that context has to mean the human being aware of his/her individuality and refusing to define himself/herself by being part of collectives. Consequently, "to be" has to mean to truely be, implying that there are other forms of existance, like the non self aware, just like being part of a collective ("I'm nothing - the collective is everything") c)"Fear does not govern my existance [because] [...] I am." Really? Perhaps it's just me, but I fail to see the logical link here. -- Given b), fear is not excluded, but by the described form of "being", you have had to learn to control your fears rather than being controlled by them. If the latter were true, you would, for example, seek refuge in the collective and cease to truely exist. Maya: "Sorry, I couldn't not do it..." Me not neither (or is that: not not either ?) Blame it on my job that I love to interpret everything into nothing... ;-) |

Dear Manny, it is not fear that makes you look left first then right. You are just used to it. If you ever travel to Britain or Australia you will still look left first and get completrly hammered by some cars coming from the other direction. Believe me I have experiences in that. It takes weeks to get used to looking in the right direction.Gilgamesch |

hehehe, i'm starting to like this girl...Why state the obvious? Because it's the only thing possible to state... (y'know, communication is impossible - all you can do is state the trivial...) DCA, See side panel for exciting recipe ideas.
