Alas, Alack, the old Quiz was posting replies in the middle and everywhere. SO let's try again, until this thread goes bezerk as well:What was the ONLY closed thread in the history of the AC Forums? (who says I'm not a veteran?) For some more classic style questions, all of the following answers start with the same 3 letters. Which letters will soon become evident to you, hopefully. 1) The last meal of the day, traditionally. 2) Great 3) Really Great 4) A contration for asking how things are going (vernacular). 5) Prone 6) Excessive 7) An addition 8) Infamous Mary Poppins word (spelling does not count) 9) What appears the surface 10) A metal with next to no resistance 11) Ask for earnestly 12) Put on top of 13) A type of solution than a precipitate will form in, under normal circumstances 14) To take the place of something obsolete 15) Lithe 16) ___ and demand 17) What the Hive does to its people 18) Mulder and Scully investigate this

The only tread to be officially closed was the one in June where Mike Ely requested a few selfless volunteers to die for the SMAC back-story. It was closed when enough volunteers e-mailed in their real names. |

"Looking for a few dead volunteers" or something to that effect. It was the one looking for people willing to die in the missing cryobay.1)supper 2)super 3)supreme 4)'S'up? 5) 6) 7) 8)superkalifragilisticexpialodocious 9) 10)superconductor 11)supplicate 12) 13)supersaturated 14)supercede 15)supple 16)supply 17) 18)supernatural 12/18 = 2/3. Could be better. I'll have to think more....
Also, could you elaborate on #9? It doesn't seem to make sense. |

I'm telling you, Borodino, it's superficial! |

Superficial - surface, being concerned with the surface of matters, appearance, etc. It does make sense if you think about it. Thinking just isn't my strong suit today.

I keep wanting to say supercede for 12, but it doesn't fit as well as I'd like. |

But supercede does fit nicely in for #14. Supplant does too, I suppose, but that's what I originally intended.9 is indeed superficial. I meant "What appears ON the surface," sorry. Superimposed does work for 12 though, that's what I intended. You still haven't gotten 3. It's not supreme. Hmmm... |
