Good find. It's nice to see SMAC getting so much media coverage lately. The screenshots are a zillion times better than the ones on Gamespot too. |

Very good preview, & the screenshots WERE a helluva lot better than Gamespots.I alerted everyone to this at 'FIRAXIS conspiracy' thread, but did anyone else notice, at the top of one of the screenshots, one of the base's name was Ohio! Coincidence, I think not! Your faithful & hell-bent NIMadier general, YYYH |

Yes, sic semper tyrannis, thus be it always to tyrants who try and disrupt the Unity. Prolly all the factions gang-rushed her. But more important, poor Saratov has changed his name to Mango again. Is this a coincidence? We've seen the Mango theme repeated before...Yes, the screenshotes were definitely better than gamespot's. I loved the tech info too. |

I like the little Civ I replay like map in the lower right corner of some of the shots showing each factions territory in a solid color. I just hope there will be an actual replay. |

Today's Speculation:Ever since some screen shots have been showing up on various web sites we have been surprised to see "Mango" playing as the head of the UoP. Who is this Mango? My wild guess of the day is that Mango = Brian Reynolds. My reasoning is that who else but Mr. Reynolds would want to provide the screenshots that showed just enough to tease, but not enough to let us infer more about SMAC than Firaxis was willing to reveal? Who else knows the game inside and out and how each little picture on the screen relates to the whole of the game? Convinced? Yeah, pretty weak, I know. Anyway, if I am right, it then appears that Brian Reynolds prefers to play as the UoP (notice that they are usually winning too).

Yes. But what the hell is Ethical Calculus? Doing a triple integral in cylindrical coordinates over the chance of getting a date with an attractive co-worker you've just badmouthed to your boss about in the hope of getting a promotion? Not a true story, but I'm just curious about how you turn all that into a bunch of numbers. I believe the answer is 0, by the way. |

no it's not you silly person .... the answer is 42 !!! I was wondering what that was too though !!! I think it has more to do with looking at ethics in a logical was !!! Although I'm probably way off on that one !!! |

From the name, I would assume "ethical calculus" means the discovery of some absolute logical framework to quantify your ethical system. Similar to the more advanced History and Moral Philosophy that Rico takes at OCS in Starship Troopers(and completely left out of the movie). |
