You must have had too much of that watered down stuff Americans call Beer. It jsut isn't healthy for you DJ. Stick to Molson or Labatt! There is another thread deveoted to the double-nexii. Based on some observations, I think it might have something to do with thread contents not updating when you check a thread. (eg. the thread has 7 messages, but only 4 show up and it looks complete.) When you hit the "refresh" button though, the other messages show up! This has happened to me twice. Hopefully they'll fix it. It's kind of annoying. |

That problem has been happening for a while now !!!I see several threads have posts that aren't there until you refresh !!! |

The double threads are only in the system once, because my post count didn't change at all .. it should have gone up by at least 20-30 for the duplicate threads if they were actually in the system twice !!! |

DJ, talked to a computer whiz here on campus, all indications are that this whole damn forum is gonna crash, eventually. Maybe Firaxis knows this and is preparing to put back the new or old forums. The system is being "weighed down" or something like that. I don't know all this technical jargon but start saving your data!!Jeff Ceasar of the Stars |

It's pretty obvious that the designers did not forsee such heavy usage. Either that, or we're unsuspecting beta testers!Of course, it probably wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have so many people posting useless stuff just to run their post counts up! And since this is one of DJ's threads, there is something I just have to get off of my chest. :0 > HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA There, that feels a little better. Wait... :-) > Okay. Much better now. If you read this, my apologies Maya. BTW, Maya and DJ, any plans to meet in real life? I mean, you're both in Montreal, right? (Or is it one Montreal, one Quebec City?) |

The forums are working just fine, as they always have. There is, however, some very bad acid in the water supply. |

Yeah, about 75 miles south of you, DHE.And also, Montreal is a good city; I visited there fairly often when I lived in NY(Lake Placid, about 1 1/2 hours south of Montreal). |

My best guess: it's transcending to NIMhood. Reminds me of Voyager. You know, the strange things happening to Kes before she transformed into an energy being or some crap like that...Seriously, I have no idea. Only a new observation: First, I had thought it has only problems with the date, sorting posts correctly by time. But just one of my posts landed behind one that was about 10 minutes older. And the multiple threads are fakes: they got the same URL. Only possible help: threads not older than 24 hours - maybe they are unaffected. |

It's secret project now, we have new technologies, you aren't researching 'fire' anymore!!! YYYH, FIRAXIS spokesman (Don't take that too seriously, I was kidding, because FIRAXIS always seems to hate comparing the game to CivII, for fair reasons I guess.... )

Gord, DJRR,Glad to know I've made such an impression... I guess that explains why I never get mentioned in any posts for anything. Anyway, I'm in Toronto. Technically Scarborough, but a nice part of Scarborough. Right next to the Rouge Valley, down by the lake. Ah.. here's something that will get you to remember me - I'm a Canadian who actually isn't a hockey fan! Unbelievable, I know, but true nonetheless. The Leafs are having their best season in my lifetime (I think, I'm 29) and I couldn't care less. |

CClark ??? You don't even like hockey ??? I'm not a fanatic about hockey, but being born and raised in Montreal, it's imposible not to not like hockey !!!Mind you, you had the Leafs, so I guess that excuses you for not liking hockey !!! Anyways, why do you think you didn't make an impression ??? |

DJ, I think it had something to do with Gord saying "I can't remember offhand if there are any other Torontonians around here..."I guess my problem is that I don't post a whole bunch of useless little things. Heh. I never saw the question the first time around. It's for Chris. My full name is actually: John Christian Clark. But my parents liked Chris better than John, so there it is.Actually, it's kind of funny, but it seems like half the programmers I've ever worked with have used their middle names. First place I worked there were three programmers, and we all used our middle names! Weird, eh? |

I think what he means is essentially this:"If one examines textual appropriation, one is faced with a choice: either accept postcapitalist discourse or conclude that language is used to exploit minorities, given that Saussure's analysis of the cultural paradigm of consensus is invalid. However, the subject is contextualised into a subtextual nationalism that includes narrativity as a whole. The subject is interpolated into a Mensongean sexuality that includes consciousness as a reality. The dialectic, and thus the fatal flaw, of subdialectic modernist theory prevalent in Erotica emerges again in Sex. Postcapitalist discourse suggests that reality may be used to entrench the entrenched hegemony of the status quo over society. But the main theme of the works of Burroughs is the role of the artist as reader. The subject is contextualised into a subtextual nationalism that includes sexuality as a reality. In a sense, Bataille suggests the use of the cultural paradigm of consensus to challenge and modify class. Any number of desituationisms concerning postcapitalist discourse exist. It could be said that several discourses concerning the difference between sexual identity and society may be revealed." That's a quote from Jane L. P. von Ludwig: The Genre of Class: Postcapitalist discourse in the works of Spelling I think her comments are right on the money... |

Sorry CClark, I guess you didn't throw your Canadian heritage around enough for me to catch it. DJ, Re: Maple Leafs I'm with CClark on this one, but I'll take it further. *Despite* having been born and raised for 6 years in Montreal, I hate hockey with an absolute passion that borders on being a phobia. And to dig myself in even deeper, I also hate baseball and all other major league sports, AND I hate beer, and ... while I won't say I hate this, I am at least not very fond of Canadian bacon. (Now Maple Syrup... that's good stuff...

Roland: I'm going to have to re-read that passage sometime when I'm not feeling quite so much like someone stuffed cotton into every available space inside my head. It's flu season and I'm dearly regretting not getting my shot. What does all of that mean? I was able to get some interesting hints out of it but not much more at the moment... |

Just reread it; it's a bit out of context but it reveals the futility of discourse under differing paradigms... |
