Um, is it just me, or has the thread about the double listings of some threads gone into the nexus itself?
Man, we're killing the OWO board as well. Hey, maybe we can bring Ultima Online down. Well, maybe not I suppose...

Well,this board is on the Alpha.OWO server. Thus I was referring to it as the OWO board.

Noticed that all the threads go in numerical order too, so with enough patience, you could rediscover ANY nexused thread.

BG, tried it, didn't work.
SD, get the newest version. I've got communicator, and it barely ever crashes. 2.0 always crashes, just about every thirty minutes.

When I posted into "The Spartan Problem", it looked like my post didn't take, but then scrolling through the thread again I noticed it in the middle of the other posts in the thread, not at the end. When I went back to the thread list, the thread had been "doubled". I checked one of the other threads, and I noticed that the same thing seems to have happened to Brother Greg, but he reposted, so his comment appears at the end as well.
Are threads getting clobbered in the doubling process, or are threads just getting duplicated?

Yeah, it seems like it happens when you post, and it doesn't appear there when it refreshes.
I think it is clobbering threads, cos if you look at the number of posts, and the time of last post for double nexiid threads, they're different. Could be wrong though.

I just took the html from the thread list page and grepped out the links to the different threads, and at first glance I didn't notice any missing numbers (the threads seem to be numbered sequentially -- this one is 000346.html for example). If threads were getting clobbered, I would expect gaps in the sequence, so maybe this is a hopeful sign that we at least aren't losing anything. Does anybody remember any threads that aren't around anymore?

Also, I just looked in "The Spartan Problem", and the first out-of-order post (by DHE, incidentally) is reply number 16 (unless I miscounted). The thread list has 16 replies for one "The Spartan Problem" and 28 (I assume the correct number) for the other one. The two times listed on the threads are 2:01 AM and 2:08 AM. The last two posts made in that thread (by me, one out-of-order and one in-order) were posted with those timestamps.
My hypothesis is that we're just getting duplication, which is a much happier problem than losing threads.
I think I have too much time on my hands .

John, take a close look. Your post should be somewhere in the middle of the thread.
So, it's sorting posts correctly by time and wrong by date. Then it doubles, and your last post is the one where the counting of posts in the "new" ends. This, however, does not seem to happen to all threads. (or am I wrong on that ?)
I'm really curious...WHAT IS THIS ???

Something I've just noticed....
I went into a couple of short threads. They didn't have the number of messages that they main page said they did. (The Profiles II said 7 messages, but when I went into it there were only 4.) I hit the refresh button and suddenly the other messages appeared. Both threads were ones that I had just previously posted in.
I'm guessing that what is happening is that the threads are not being refreshed locally. When you post into the thread, it messes up. This is just a hunch but would possibly explain why it is happening to the more popular threads.
Moral of the story, hit REFRESH before writing any replies!

I haven't had any of these problems - perhaps there is something wrong with the sorting thing in the personal preference options. I always have this bit turned off.
P.S - some of the supposed nexii seem to have returned - perhaps the boards are recovering them overnight?
I really don't know...

My experience is that it's getting worse with every hour. There is more and more double-topics, and I've seen a triple one.
I don't think it has anything to do with anything we do. The topic page seems to be generated on the fly and as with the last forum, something seems to overflow when the number of topics/posts gets too large. I think that upgrading the board software might really help.
So, let's mourn the slow & painful death of this forum, while we can.
