Hmmm .. I made a little profile for my Canadian 8th Faction counterparts and decided to paste it in the profiles thread !!!

One problem, I couldn't find it !!! Was it Nexiied ???

Anyways .. here's a new one or a continuation !!!

************ Copied Post **************

Also .. I think it would be appropriate if we all said a little bit about ourselves .. I'll start if it'll help !!!
DJ RRebel >>> 25, male, Montreal, CANADA
Stats >>> Who cares, we'll probably never meet !!!

Interests: Global politics, science & tech, strategy games, music & DJing, Sci Fi, meeting interesting people, learning new things and helping to make this world a better place in general !!!

IQC# >>> 5677827 (get ICQ at www.mirabilis.com or at my website)
e-mail >>> [email protected] (it's a zero after rebel)
web page >>> listen.to/rebel (just started it though)

Favorite Factions:
1> Canadian 8th Faction
2> United Nations
3> University of Planet

Favorite Leader: None, my idea of an ideal society is one where an educated population votes on all important issues! To be eligible to vote, one would only need to understand both sides of the argument (not as simple as you might think)! I fear anyone who would want to impose his/her views on others .. I only hold the role as Faction leader on an interum basis, as soon as we set up the infrastucture for a leaderless society I will completely resign my position !!! I was supposed to cede my temporary leadership role to Canadian hero, Captain Garland, but he's running a little late!

System >>> Out of date Pentium 166MMX!
(gonna upgrade in Jan or Feb in time for SMAC)

Availability >>> 3 days out of 6, work rotation: 3on/3off

Some Favorite Movies:
-Saving Private Ryan
-Contact

-X-Files (did anyone catch the premiere ??? Awsome)
-Babylon 5
-Drew Carey
-Most Canadian comedies (Air Farce, Red Green, Hour has 22mins etc)
-Simpsons & South Park (of course)

Fav game >>> Civilization II
(also liked simcity & Empire on my 286)

Preffered life 20 yrs from now >>> To be a U.N. mediator !!!
Or to be temporary ruler of the world, until I made myself obsolete of course !!! (Read above for reasons why)

Feel free to add or delete any catagories depending on your interests !!!

Oh, how off-topic we have become. . .oh well. Now that I have returned from my nearly 3-day sabatical from SMAC (not much happened while I was gone, which wasn't terribly surprising), here you go:

From: Fairfax, VA, within 15 miles of Washington, DC. My house is approximately equidistant from the Pentagon and the CIA HQ, so if a nuclear war breaks out, I go first. . .
(I am currently in Tucson, AZ for university. This probably will not aid my nuclear target threat due to the research importance of this university)

Interests: Politics (I'd better like it, it's my major), philosophy, science (particularly planetary science, but also astronomy, physics and geology mainly), history (European history SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING than American history. I find American history dull, but I did get 5's on both exams), music (been in choir for 13 years and I love to listen to music), sailing (small boat, fav. racing class = interlake, the handicap and performance go well together in certain wind conditions)

Occupation: University Student at the University of Arizona (in Tucson, AZ)

Personal Beliefs: Deist/Humanist Existentialist

Favorite Factions:
1.) PEACEKEEPERS (duh!)
2.) UofP (I'm an aspiring social-political "scientist" with training in planetary science, how could I not find this attractive?)
3.) um. . .the Hive could be fun to play, but I certainly wouldn't want to live there

Favorite Leader:
SMAC: Pravin Lal
Real World: Either Winston Churchill, Campbell-Bannerman, or Gladstone (yeah, three English leaders for an American, I know. It's just the English have almost always had much better leadership. . .Well, not any more, today's House of Commons is sort of funny :-))

System: Pentium II 266 Mherz, 64 Megs RAM (got it this past May, a significant upgrade from my 486dx50)

Favorite movies:
1.) Schindler's List
2.) Amistad
3.) Saving Private Ryan
4.) Doctor Zhivago
5.) Star Trek III

Favorite Type of Music: Alternative (see song choices below)

Favorite TV Shows:
1.) Babylon 5
2.) Star Trek: DS9
3.) Various science and history specials
4.) Seinfeld

Favorite Songs:
1.) A Long December (Counting Crows)
2.) A Murder of One (Counting Crows)
3.) It's the End of the World as We Know It (REM)
4.) Loosin' My Religion (REM)
5.) Raining in Baltimore (REM)

Favorite Comp games:
1.) CivII
2.) Star Control 2
3.) Master of Orion
4.) Master of Orion II
5.) X-Com

Preferred Life 20 Years from now:
1 of two things:
1. University Professor (hopefully they won't scrap the tenure system by then, although I hope I've demonstrated at the university so far that I'm good enough at teaching that it shouldn't matter) in political science, perhaps in my home town (if George Mason University becomes good enough by then and/or I can get a job there/they have openings)
2. Government Legislator/Executive (would be nice, but it's a high-risk field, so I'd like to get my PhD and rely on teaching, which I highly enjoy anyway, in the event it doesn't turn out)

Medicine/health (dah!), sports (mainly mountain biking, jogging, TWD, volley-ball and scuba-diving), science, philosophy, fashion, nature, cats...

Favorite TV shows:
1) Babylon 5
2) ER
3) Not really anything else, since I don't have much time to watch TV

Favorite Movies:
"Trois couleurs: Bleu" & "Trois couleurs: Rouge" ("Three Colors: Blue" & "Three Colors: Red") directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski.
Those two movies are, IMHO, quite simply masterpieces. They are the only two movies I ever bought and, by now, I must have seen them at least a zillion time. Everytime I watch them, I find myself enjoying them even more. If you haven't seen them already, you are really, I mean _really_ missing something.

Favorite Books (fiction):
1) "Sofies verden" ("The World of Sophie") by Jostein Gaarder.
2) The unamed trilogy by Alexadre Dumas: "Les Trois Mousquetaires" ("The Three Musketeers"), "Vingt Ans Aprs" ("Twenty Years After") and "Le Vicomte de Bragelonne", also called "Dix Ans Plus Tard" ("Ten Years Later"). This third novel is often split up into three pieces when published in English: "The Vicomte of Bragelonne", "Louise de la Vallire" and "The Man in the Iron Mask".
3) "Les fleurs du mal" ("The Flowers of Evil") by Charles Beaudelaire (poetry).

Favorite Music (composers):
1) I'll have to go with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky for my first choice. I mean, how much better can you do than the 1812 Opening?
2) Vangelis
3) Various modern days rock/dance artists (they're not composers, I know, but anyway...).

Favorite Computer Games:
- Best game of all time: "The Curse of Monkey Island" (the first one) from LucasFilms Games (now LucasArt). Nope, sorry, not Civ or Civ2.
- Game I'm enjoying the most right now: "Quake II" from id Software.
- Game I'm the most looking forward to: SMAC (dah!).

1) Astronaut (keep dreaming, I know...)
2) ER surgeon
3) Working for some humanitarian organisation (UNICEF, Red Cross, Mdecins sans frontire...).
4) Taking over the world! =)

Well, I think that pretty much covers it.

Spouse: Belinda (no, Cindy is just a callsign)
Height: 178cm (I think that's about 5'7(8?)"

Upcoming Games:

Diablo II

20 years from now:
Well, I'd like to have teenage kids, which are planned in about 3 years from now. Probably four, two of each (Belinda will kill me for that one - always complaining about pushing a watermelon out, etc). I'd like to be writing PC Games, but that's prolly unlikely, as I'm too lazy to get into it. I could find the time, but then I'd have less time to play games.

So, probably be a team leader, or a system guru, as I have NO wish to go into management, though my manager tells me I'd be good at it. Money ain't the aim, happiness is.

What I'd like to be doing: Touring the world, promoting unification and peace.

Availability: limited, and probably only going to get worse with kids in 3 years, so I'm living it up now.
