Author Topic:   PETITION: Gaia's StepDAUGHTERS? No way!

The recent Gamespot preview mentioned that evil name again. For the nth time, not all the Gaians are female! And I can assure you that with a name like that, very few males are going to sign up with Mrs. Skye's sexist name. The Gaians gets straight to the chase and is something everyone can agree on. As for a better "full name" (like the Spartan Federation instead of the Spartans), how about Gaia's Protectors or Gaia's Guardians? Stepdaughters is a name that just wouldn't work.
P.S. I realize that back in the old forums, there was a thread on this that got a ton of replies, so this is its reincarnation.

Yeah, you can't be politically incorrect on this planet. So I say change the stupid thing. We can;t have Step-Daughters of Gaia marching around, they're a threat to national security, they should all be shot on site! Having the name Step-daughters makes the family values politicians always seem to talk about go to hell, so in order to save the country, we must change this evil politically incorrect name!!

I'm not asking for it to be changed because its politically incorrect. I'm asking it to be changed because about 6 men from the Unity are going to join the Stepdaughters of Gaia, and it's just not going to be realistic to have 1,000's of them doing that.
Also, I know I'll be much less eager to play as them if they're the SoG.

I'm not sure if I would join this faction because it reminds me of a comic I read where Society on this planet had created a perfect world by modeling themselves on these grasshoppers. Unfortunately this included devouring the male after mating

I don't like that because no male would join it! In other words, Lady Ske is fine because that is CORRECT, she's a lady. But how would you like Lady Junack? I'm not one of Gaia's StepDaughters! I may support them, but I'll never say that! Sigh, I need my sedatives again now...

How do you know the Gaians even like men?Maybe they keep a few male drones around for procreating and thats it.Like the amazon societies.Tree hugging amazons as it were.(Mind worm hugging,Yuck! Doesnt sound all that much fun.) Im sure they would argue it is the males shortsighted, aggressive nature that had poisoned the earth and would poison Alpha Centauri as well.Anyway why wouldnt you want to play them. Its only a game anyway.You can look through the eyes of another person.Which is the coolest part of gaming!!!!!

Hey, Trackin down on the name "Gaia's Stepdaughters" was my idea! I posted it in the PC debates on the last forum! My suggestion is "Offspring of Gaia's Lifepartner", which should take care of Sexist, Racist, Ageist and Homofobic concerns.
