Just tell everybody how you came to choose your name. With the new forum it is worth doing this again.I'll begin: outlyr242 in the old forums then, outlyr242 the rebirth for a few posts then, O 242 2: Outlyr - a term I grabbed from statistics. I identify my self with that little dot far out away from the muddled group of dots pulling the averages and expectations far from the norm. 242 - came from am industrial group named Front242. I don't listen to them anymore but I really like the number, so symmetrical is so many aspects.

Let's see ... I get asked this alot .. DJ RRebel is actually short for DJ Rhythm Rebel .. the DJ name bestowed upon me in CEGEP (college here in Montreal) ... because I used to do a remix for a song called Buckwheat the Rebel on the college radio station .. at one point in the song, it going ... like meeeeeeee ... the Rhythm .. the Rebel ... so my friends just gave me that and it stayed .. at one point I was mixing live on a large scale radio station directly from a club, and they asked me for my DJ name like the day before my first show and I couldn't think of anything so I just used the Rhythm Rebel again .. kind of cheesy, but it's grown on me !!! Later on when I just started using the web, a friend set up an account for me in something and put RRebel or DJ Rebel or something ... I can't remember, but anyways ... it sorta seemed apropriate for me and I've been using it on the web ever since !!! |

From the desk of the director-general;I have been the director general for almost two years now. It started as a one time joke with some friends. I frequently wear a black suit and fedora and am entirely to weird and devious for my own good. Yo_Yo_Yo_Hey
|
posted 11-07-98 01:38 PM ET
My username was the result of a computer error. The original name I typed in was 'RDJunack' but after going through all the FIRAXIS computers, not to mention the government ones, it came out as Yo _Yo_Yo_Hey on the old forums. So since then it stuck, except this time it doesn't have a space between the first 'Yo' & the second 'Yo'.But seriously, I have a few explanations for my name 1.)When my friend calls me on the phone, I answer 'hello', he says 'yo' I say 'yo' back, then he says 'yo' again, so I screw up the pattern by saying 'hey', one explanation. 2.)You could use it to mean that all things eventually come to an end. The three Yo's are ended by the Hey, compare that to all empires in history, & you will see everything, no matter how great, one day ends. 3.) (This is probably the real reason) I registered late at night, so I was too tired to think of a cool name, so I just typed that in, & it stuck. (Well, I'm back sorta now, the problem has been sorta dealt with, though I'm not gonna post as much because of these crazy fanatics in here) Snowfire, you win the pool you set up over in my 'bye' thread! FREEDOM, LIBERTY & SMAC!!! Your faithful & hell-bent NIMadier general, YYYH

Shinin'1 was the numberplate for the leader of the Shining Ones (I forget his name); the bad guys in Finn, one of the storylines of 2000AD (a comic which I think has just gone out of business). Anyway, I always though it was a interesting handle.(The 'g' is included because the server wouldn't allow a ' in the name. I think it's an improvement, to tell the truth). |

The first part, Hermit, I got from living in a small town, Florence, MT, USA; plus I'm somewhat of a loner by choice. The other part came from junior high basketball. I was kinda scrawny, so they knicknamed me Twig. It stuck even though I outgrew it (literally). |

Saint Randerolf
|
posted 11-08-98 11:20 PM ET
I got my name (Randerolf)'cuz at school my friends started calling every one by there expanded names. ex. Sam = Smauel .... So I told them that the damn sure better not call me Randerolf 'cuz it wasn't my real name. Mistake..... but it kinda grew on me. So, when I played Civ2 I changed the fundamental system title to Saint because it sounded cooler. and thus SAINT RANDEROLF. and no, my real name is Randy |

MikeH because my first name is Mike and there was already a Mike registered so I added my surname's first initial. Very exciting isn't it? |

Tapiolan poika
|
posted 11-23-98 09:57 AM ET
It's a derivation of my second name, Tapio, which, incidentally happens to be the name of the Finnish God of the Forest. The forest, thus, is his abode, or home, which is what the suffix '-ola' means.'poika' means 'boy', and so you get the connotation "the boy from the abode of the forest god", i.e., "the boy from the forest". 'Tapiolan poika' is also used instead of just saying Tapio (meaning the Forest god, not just any Joe...). Not surprising, since the place I found it, is in the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic, and they do a lot of the things you'll find in the Norse/Icelandic sagas, and in the Iliad and the Odyssey. |

Mine is my name, however as someone had stolen it, I added The infront of it to clearly delinate it. The culprit returned the stolen name to me, but as each email can only have one id, I routed it off to a email I do not use often and have continued to use The Thomas A Stobie. In addition, I like to post on topic as most of you know, and the general forum was my least frequent post area. I wonder when they will get the other areas up. |
