I usually check www.cdmag.com for release dates. If you can find their software sales page they have a ton of pre-order software. Civ2-MGE is listed for 11/98 & SMAC for 1/99.

Yeah, & cdmag also said SMAC was coming out in August 98!! If you look at your calendar you will see that this is obviously untrue!!

I've called the phone number for pre-ordering Civ2-Multi-Gold-Edition several times in the last few months .. and the latest news is that it might not even come out at all because of all the mergers and buyouts with the involved parties ... Hosbro bought out Micro-prose and Avalon hill or was it Micro prose and Activision .. baahh .. the bottom line is don't hold your breath .. I couldn't believe they were still accepting pre-orders for a game that they said: "might not even be released" what insanity !!! Now I think I know why Sid and the gang left Micro-Prose !!! lol

why get civ2 mge? just get ctp or ac. the multi player should just be added to TOT even though that doesn't look as good as AC not even CCTP

For those who don't know ...
CCTP=Civilization:Call To Power (Activision)
CGME=Civilization:Gold Multi-player edition (based on Microprose's Civ 2)
AC=of course is Alpha Centauri !!!

thought "test of time" was supposed to be like a civ3, but not sure. Also i believe that civ2gold is coming out the 17th, but again not sure. ::sigh::

Lowly software store manager to the rescue.
Civ 2 Multiplayer Gold is schedualed for 11/9 for the PC,11/11 for the Mac
Civ 2 Test or Time has a "sometime in december" release, but I doubt it will make it.
Call to Power (like anyone cares) is bumped into next year.
These are the dates my HO has as of 11/4/98
And please , in the coming two months, BE KIND TO RETAILERS! We could snap at any minute this time of year, and when we do, its not pretty.
