I convinced many PBEM players to set to 0 the flag in alpha.txt, the one which allows to use the commlinks in the same way as in single player, i.e. No diplomacy before contact. Now I realized that it may cause a bug, but I'm not fireproof sure of it, since I took the concept for granted in playing.
I suppose that, when another faction gets your commlink without meeting you on the field, that faction cn contact you but you can't contact them.
Till they decide to call you.
Once that faction calls you and talks to you I assume you automatically get your commlink to reply when you want, since talking IS a kind of contact.
I never checked it, I could put a a scenario to test it, but I won't have time till the end of July.
Well, the flag doesn't work that way.
In my PBEMs I keep being contacted in early game by factions who got my commlink by trade, but after I close the diplo window, in the commlink I still miss their frequencies.
If someone could confirm or deny the game feature before I find the time to test it, it would help.
If it shows to be a bug, we'd lose that handy tool to show us only legal commlinks, anf we'd have to care for it by memory, rather hard to do with all the PBEM we play and all the time passing between the turns.
