Been playing SMAC for weeks now, and I'm ready to get down-n-dirty with multiplayer. What confounds me is the lack of people to play against. I've tried HEAT and ALPHA HQ, but I haven't had any luck with either. Where do I go to hook up for games?
Also, what the hell is a CMN and a PBEM?
And I see the amount of activity going on with multi games, but can't scare up a game myself. I'm an experienced Civ, Civ2 player and tend to use unconventional strats. Anyone interested?

PBEM : Play By E-Mail game
CMN : Creator/Moderator/Narrator
It's a term that I coined when we started the "Challenge" idea with cousLee, GoobMeister and a few others (dig out "THE CHALLENGE" in the Game forum for more details)
Basically, it's someone who takes the responsibility of creating a game (since we didn't want to start from scratch and did not like the accelerated start option), acts as a referee and does some storytelling.
Also see "All quiet on the Planet Front" and "CMN HEADLINE NEWS" on this forum for examples.
If you have more questions, just ask.
