A handful of May Madness contestants are dragging their feet getting info back to me for the start of the tourney. There could be room for up to five alternates. If you would like to sign up, please post your interest here _AND_ send me an e-mail: [email protected] So far we have two alternates already signed up on the list: Brice and MoSe, no need for you two to re-up on this thread. The first round map is ready. Rover engines are revving. Hopefully your first round scenarios will be arriving in your inbox, by the end of the week. SMAC n ... Ted S. |

HOLD ON! Sorry for misunderstanding, but I didn't get it had to be a "live" game. I'm only connected @work, through a proxy, so no ICQ. And about AlphaHQ.net, I have an NT4.0 machine, with ServicePack4 and IExplorer 5.0 with Java VirtualMachine, still when I try to enter a lobby I get a blank page and a Java error. Don't know if behind a firewall there's any live MP viable option for me, afraid not. Anyway I can peek in the forums and check the mailbox regularly, but I have to (pretend to) do some work most of the time, and we give users also on site assistance, so I may be in another office room for 1 hour; this prevents me from continuous live MP. If someone wants to give me hints and put up an MP test with me, I can give it a try. Otherwise meet you all in PBEM. MariOne |

>>>>>>> Rong Yes. They will be live MP games. With four rounds to decide the winner, live games are the only practical way to determine a tourney champion in any reasonable amount of time. Even assuming one could sustain an average rate of 2 PBEM turns a day (a pretty high rate), that's only 60 turns a month. This means at least two and more likely three months to determine winners for each round. Multiply by four rounds and you get eight months to a year to complete the tourney. Not sure if interest would be sustained for that long!? Sorry if there has been any misunderstanding. SMAC n ... Ted S. |
