I am making a 3 player PBEM game. This game is going to be a floater. you will receive a turn. faction, year, (and settings in the begining), whatever, it will be a total guess-me game. Anyone can register, everyone will play. randonly. when you finish this turn, you will send it the same way you received it. HUH? you ask? Whomever receives this turn, will randomly pick the next player of the turn from those crazzy enough to post their email here. If you don't want to play this game, DO NOT post in this thread. That sender puts in this thread, who they sent the turn to. Sender, please keep a copy of the game until the next player posts. An umpteen author storyline thread will be created. You play all 3 human factions for your turn. This is a Human VS AI game. once the AI has been eliminated, the game will be over. But, I am going to create this with the scenario editor, and the AI is going to be given a "few" breaks. You can NOT pick yourself from the list when determining who to send the game to. > Thoughts? |

cousLee, Huh? I ask. The Flour Flotilla? Do you call it this because too many cooks spoil the cake? As I see it, what you're doing is creating a schizoid triple human player and setting it against the AI. Is this correct? Given that the vast majority of strategy game players are CONTROL FREAKS I think you've got one crazy idea. I see nothing but frustration on the part of the humans as they struggle to overcome not only the AI (as I'm sure that with Transcend level and whatever other benefits you bestow it'll kick ass) but also, the meddlesome humans that will constantly do the wrong thing, change production, etc., blah, yada, yada, yada. In short... count me in for getting this thing off the ground. One question. Will the three human controlled factions be allowed to trade techs? That will be too much of an advantage to the human(s) unless you REALLY beef up the AI factions. One suggestion. I would suggest that the human factions be the most pacifistic/builder oriented ones available; namely, Gaians, Morgans and PKs. JAMiAM |

Will I be allowed to keep my CRT on while playing? It's a long time since my last chess blindfold match... Will it be an open list (players joining in underway)? Will the order of play be fixed or it can be randomly scrambled for subsequent turns? If we know each other, we'll end bullying the weaker ones by e-mail. It would have been nicer if you played as hub, you decide who to send, and we return the turn to you, so that we don't know WHO actually massed it till the end... MariOne |

I am going to have the storythread at Asian Flu's site, unless voted down. I will make another one also. That thread, please ONLY put your email addy. It will be the list the player randomly chooses from. I wonder was the Guinesses is for players in a single game? . That thread will be called "The Flour (restricted access)". This current thread will be used for game creation discussions, and "turn to" posts. MoSe, |

You guys are nuts. You are never gonna be able to finish all these games. When the games get 30-40 more turns in you are gonna regret this! Flour flotilla, you gotta be kidding me.... I would never waste my time with such trivial numbnuts bullsh*t. It is irresponsible to mess around with this kind of stuff while such serious games as Mastor and Aredhran's Challenge are tearing along at a blistering one turn per week clip. I am far too responsible to obligate myself to this when I have theseserious PBEM games to worry about. If Nell_Smith were here she would tell you the same thing. Count me in. Please, please, please... jimmytrick |

It was difficult, not to post a reply in the story thread to jimmytrick's post. But, it did bring up this. The only one who can post in the story thread is the current player. If we want a "flame thread", it can be made. I think this is only fair. When it's not your turn, it's someone elses game, and you would be posting in "their" story thread. |

My post was intended to introduce a charactor, Lt. Col. jtrick. This charactor, I had planned, would be a sort of George Patton wannabe. CousLee was targeted for the ire of the good Lt. Col. simply because he is the most famous SMACwarrior in the known universe (this is meet to be a sucking up type of compliment, not sarcastic). No flame intended. No flame thread needed. In charactor, the Lt. Col. would treat with great distain any sort of defensive units. I was just trying to set up a story line in my own awkward, inept way. Since it was not appreciated, I will be pleased to knock it off. I am an ill-mannered, crude, smartass creep. If the game would be more enjoyable for anyone without me in it....... |

Absolutely do not stop. There was no offence taken, I was only commenting on a possible future issue. I noticed there could be a possibility of it, so I made the posting rule. ********** I thought it was humorus, that the LtCo was saying no defensive units, but the title is: "Tri-Chiron Defense League", DEFENSE league. And the unit reminded you of a "Bradley Fighting Vechicle", FIGHTING vehicle. I guess that the diffrence in rank qualification really shows here. General cousLee |

General cousLee, In response to your recent post: 1. I thought it was humorus, that the LtCo was saying no defensive units, but the title is: "Tri-Chiron Defense League", DEFENSE league. General, may I remind you, you sir were the founder of the, er, Defense League.... 2. And the unit reminded you of a "Bradley Fighting Vechicle", FIGHTING vehicle. Which functioned as a "troop carrier", but was named by a, er, General.... 3. I guess that the diffrence in rank qualification really shows here. If, sir, you would consider the War of Northern Agression, and the rank such great soldiers such as Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson entered into service with, I am sure the General will agree that the difference in rank qualification means little on the battlefield. Most cordially, |

Quite often it will take me sometime before I am ready/able to post a game related story piece. Am I expected to hold onto the turn until I am ready to post? If we all have our own characters a la Col. Jtrick we should not have much trouble with stepping on each others toes. I could have a McClellan type character that we all could cast desdain upon. But I say the story thread should be open to posting at all times. Goob |

Aredhran, George B. McClellan was the Union general (US Civil War) responsible for building up the Army of the Potomac into an extremely large and, potentially, effective fighting force in 1862. He allowed himself to be outmaneuvered by R.E. Lee because of his plodding (apologists say "methodical") advance and lack of nerve. Very popular with his troops and perhaps not quite deserving of his detractors claims (Lee thought he was the best of his opponents) he nonetheless received a reputation for sitting on his butt and being difficult to convince to take decisive action. He opposed Lincoln in the 1864 elections as a "Peace" candidate and was defeated, soundly. JAMiAM |

MoSe, This game also has the purpose (OK, maybe it's not a purpose but an added benefit) of teaching a few tricks to some of the players. If you build a 4-1-1 prototype, it's going to cost you 30 minerals. A 4-1-2 will cost 50. You do the math... Maybe the person who did this simply did not realize that. If you don't point out people's mistakes, they will never learn from them. I learned a couple useful things/tricks from PBEM games myself already, and I thought it would be the right thing to do to return the favor to others. The purpose is not to be pedantic or to laugh at someone else's mistakes. Aredhran |

I do not intend to give instructions to other players (do this, do that), just hints. It's kinda like that little remark you made about foresting a rolling moist tile, MoSe. Everyone must be free to do as they please, and by all means go ahead and undo my undoings if you want to. Just expect another rant from the Chief Engineer if you do Anyway. If I see something /I/ consider stupid, I'll "correct" it, if it does not cost too much resources or TP (Terraforming Points). Aredhran |
