This post will be concerning the PBEM game 'Arora: The Terran Saga.' The players are:

Veracitas: Spartans
Djerrid: Hive
DrPhibes: UoP
Denain: PK
Ulyses: Gaians
MichaeltheGreat: Morgan
Dowdc: Believers

The game has started. I have sent the save game file to Ulyses.

Ulyses was having a hard time sending the save file to MichaeltheGreat([email protected]) so he sent the file to me. He should be receiving it soon.

Ahhh...
I appears that we have begun.

I hope that you have all settled nicely into your present habitats and have found fertile ground to breed upon. My appologies once again for the file mishap that I mentioned in my letter; it won't be repeated.

I am curious about which time zones you have all found yourselves. This way I'll know when to expect correspondence. I have arrived upon Eastern Standard Time.

I hope that this finds you well,

Djerrid of the Hive

I see. I have yet to inspect where upon this enigmatic planet that our mighty Spartan faction has established itself. Fear not, for we will go forth and righteously seek that which we deserve. It is the survivor that flourishes in the land of the weak.

May the morrow find you resilient and well,
Duke Veracitas of the Spartan Federation

What's going one here? Has this game started, or not? I haven't received the save file yet.

Yes we're off. Coupla slight hiccups, one already discussed and one my fault. Sent the wrong file. Sorry for the delay, but it should be coming your way shortly.

BTW -- in an accelerated start does the first faction to res Secrets of the Brain get extra tech?

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention. We should try not to contact other factions until we have actually met up with them--self discipline, so to speak.

I have received the file from MichaeltheGreat. After a few bumps and starts, I am hoping the game goes faster from now on.

Ah, looks like I broke my own cardinal rule not of my accord. I have been offered a pact, thus, I suppose, it should be allowed for everyone else as well. Be careful who you make friends with, though...

Hi guys, I just have a few questions about PBEM having never done this before... Specifically, my questions are about the alpha.txt file and the various patches. Are we all using the same patch (I assume we are, but just checking)? What would happen if we weren't?

Also, what would happen if we didn't all have the same rules in the alpha.txt file? I've changed mine a little (esp. with regard to copters--they're way too powerful as is). Will this put me at a disadvantage, or does the save file give everyone the same rules?

I have no contacts currently (something else I changed in the rules)... so how can we fix this so it is fair for everyone?

Dowdc - the original alpha.txt settings are incorporated into the save game file - so that games in progress are run under the original settings, thus you should have no problem. I'm running with the 3.0 patch, and the standard alpha.txt file.

I haven't received the second turn yet. Who is the last player to move?

Morgan Industries is a superior trading partner and looks forward to peaceful trade relations with any faction leader. Your energy is good with me...

CEO MichaeltheGreat, Morgan Industries

Good, I'm glad the rules thing isn't a problem...

Who was the last player to move? I haven't gotten my second turn either.

Well, it's been a week or so since i did my first move -- what's happening?

This has become really slow...we have had a problem with sending the files, as you should all be aware of, but we are currently in the process of fixing that. MichaeltheGreat has offered viable suggestions so I hope that they will solve the problems.

In the meanwhile, the Spartan Federation and Duke (am I Duke or High Lord? Inbetween all the PBEMs I am playing, I can't remember anymore) Veracitas extend a warm hand of welcome to Gaia's Stepdaughters and their most esteemd leader Ulyses.

Negotiations have begun to confirm the terms of the pact of siblinghood between them. The Federation wishes the free sharing of all. However, the Federation also understands that, if the Gaians wish to withold information, they will respect their decision. However, the Spartans, if anything, would find the sharing of Ethical Calculus to be most useful.
