well i have decided to start playing multiplayer and was wondering if there is anyone out there that wishes also to get up a game.

UoP please...and would prefer to be able to keep up the pace to let's say three turns per week...I'd like accelerated start too...

I don't get bent out of shape about accelerated start, but I never use it in solo games - I find that the earliest decisions about city site and exploration, etc. have huge long-term implications, so I like control of those, although I realize it's a pain in a multiplayer game, so I'll happily defer to majority view.

Well, I guess (as in my email), I'll take Morganites then (since Gaian and UofP are all gone).
Accellerated start is really a last-ditch option, but in multiplayer it's really quite necessary, in my opinion. Without it, you're quite honestly more than a month before you can build a 2nd (or DEFINITELY 3rd) base, particularly with 7 players.

Oh, I'm willing to host as well... I hosted in the other game I'm playing, and I don't mind doing it again if nobody else wants to.
I'd really kind of like to know people are checking their email sorta often, though. It's tough to get into a game where you're waiting 4 days for the file.

I check my mail all the time. I can post daily for sure. I just can't play while I'm at work, so my game play is restricted to 4pm (MTN) onward. (and I can get off a game turn before I leave for work at 7 mountain time if it's sitting in my in box when i get up) But, since alot of people are on eastern time, that's usually not much of a problem.

I check email 4-8x per day, and can play at work, since I'm self employed. Also, I'm Pacific time. I'll host if no one objects.
Haven't heard back from Holy_Player, or from Xeno_Man yet, but I have heard by email or here from everyone else, so we have six as of right now.
In a few minutes, I'll take everyones emails and posts and post the more or less consensus prefs. I prefer huge maps, since they give a lot more flexibility in playing style. Does anyone have any prefs for custom map conditions or huge map of planet?
I'll post again soon with what we've got so far with factions and prefs, and with only one more slot, I vote we open it up to the next live body who shows up.
Thanks for your replies. I'll copy the next post to everybody's email as well.

Depending on the level of the players I would be willing to join. I check my mail pretty much all day long. every day. Am playing a PBEM with my dad right now. he is slower than I am.
Hive or UN would be suitable to me.

We are still short one bod - LeahCim hasn't replied by email, but has posted on the forum in response to my posts last night. I thought we had seven, but one of the players sent email with two different name headers, so we have six.
We also haven't heard from Holy_Player on the forum or by email.

The general consensus of rules seems to be:

Accelerated Start,
Large Map (random or standard planet? anybody have any preferences?) There are two for Random (RockGroin and MichaeltheGreat) anybody for standard?
No blind research,
Spoils of war,
All victory,
Does anyone have a preference on Unity Survey i.e. World Map? I think it makes sense from a storyline standpoint - all you see is landmass and oceans, and any spacecraft could accomplish that - we have that level of detail and more for most of the solar system now in the real world.

Faction preferences:

Gaia: HeatherWst (1st Post)
Hive:
UoP: XenoMan
Morgan: RockGroin
Spartans: Dr Nick
Believers:
Peacekeepers: MichaeltheGreat (1st Post)

LeahCim posted she'll take whatever's left, and we need another body.
I'll also post this on the forum, so the next live body that happens along can jump in.

I seem to be the only Pacific time zone player, so moving last as Peacekeepers makes sense - I'll make sure I have my move mailed by late night/very early morning, so the other players will have a shot at making morning moves before going to work.
