Forgive me if this has alredy been discussed to death. I've just recently begun to do the MP thing ( and I'm having a blast!). Is there any way to switch from hotseat/PBEM to other forms of MP communication?

cousLee and myself did a test to that effect, and although we were not able to play any turns due to multiple crashes and connection problems, we did manage to load the game, initially created as hotseat, in an IP multiplayer game.So the answer to your question is YES. Aredhran |

The answer is YES, but it didn't work? I'm having a hell of a time in PBEM as well. Just wish the turns would flow a bit quicker, eh Mongoose? RockGroin |

I have tried this, and it works fine. You just enter whatever multiplayer mode you prefer (usually TCP/IP?), and load the hotseat/pbem save file. Then you just let other people join your mp game as usual.I've only tried this on two players, but it worked just like it should. |

RG: It didn't work, but because of problems unrelated to the ability of SMAC to load a PBEM game into a Direct IP session (or vice-versa), but due to external problems (line dropping, Win98 crash, you name it)Aredhran

yea, the game went down twice during the synchro routine. It was due to a problem on this end that the game didn't load all the way. and we were not able to re-try, as i had gotten a LD phonecall, which took priority. We were testing it to see if was feasable to plan an "accelleration day" for the challanges. |

That's a good term for precisely what I'm hoping to accomplish. Tried to test it today, but I couldn't even manage to join the game. Did finally make it as far as the lobby, though. |
