I want to start a PBEM game next saturday and need 5 players. Im in Western Australia which means that I would be around 12 hours ahead of US people so maybe they would not want to play. Evening here = morning in US. If that's the case then maybe there some Ausies out there... Anyway, I will play anyone as long as they are willing to last the distance and can do at least one move a day. BTW I would have to play the Spartans or Uop.

OK some specs
Diff: librarian or higher
map: large random
oceans:medium
erosion: weak
natives:rare or medium
blind research ON
spoils of war OFF
accelerated start if majority wants it

Count me in if you can't get enough players in your general time zone. I am in the Central US time zone and can do at least 1 turn each night. Prefer to play Gaians, UoP, Pks, or Spartans. Let me suggest Thinker level. All the other specs look great to me.

BTW, the game will likely go faster if you have people in different time zones, but you need to arrange it so that the turns "follow the globe", so to speak. Why don't you have the players post their time zones and play windows, convert it to your time, and then work out the faction assignments so that each player can expect a turn early in his play window, thus giving him/her time to play it and get it to the next person within their play window.
Using this method we should be able to get an average of 4-5 turns during the workweek, and hope for two a days on weekends.
If anyone does not have 7 day a week access, please disclose it before we start so that we can adjust our expections.
I will take leftover factions if it will help get the game in line. Are you going with 5, 6, or 7 players? I suggest no more than four human players because that will allow the game to move much faster. I will go along with whatever you decide.
Well, also, please do not make me play the Believers unless necessary.
My play window is 5-10pm Eastern Standard Time. The settings are good.

OK I will be in that......as long as i can play the spartans it will be ok.....(UoP or the hive as last resorts).I am also in WA so our moves shouldnt take too long.......

Thanx for the responses. I am glad to see one person from my own state. I am also happy to go along with Armageddon's advise and play on thinker level if all agree. easier level means less drone riots allowing us to concentrate on growth, infrastructure and military advancments. WE can also limit the game to 4 human players - quicker game - unless majority has a problem with that. Are you all happy with TIME WARP?

Thanx everybody for interest. I am happy to announce that I have setup a page just for us. So far Ive done the homepage so there isnt much to see yet. I would like you to visit it and give me your first impressions. I tried to keep it reasonably simple but plesing to the eye. www.iinet.net.au/~custompc. yes it is 'iinet' not 'inet'.So far we have four people signed up. JImmytrick did not choose a faction so I will wait for 12 hours. I was going to start this game on Sat but with this kind of response we might have to commence on Tuesday or Wednsday the latest. I am looking forward to this game!

Unfortunately I was asked today to reschedule my vacation due to a project starting in mid June. I will be gone between May 29 and June 8. For the duration of that time I will not be able to play. Is there a way to turn over my faction to the AI during the vacation? Or does anybody know somebody who could serve as a designated stand in that could take over during the times we are unable to play?

Sorry Armageddon but incorporating a substitute during your absence would cause unnecessary complications or delays so unfortunately I have to drop you. Im sure find many others to play with

If you still need to fill last spot, I'd like to be in this one too. See my personal data in my profile. I'll take any faction. If it's still subject to vote, I woulnd't like to use SMAC's accelerated start (Time Warp). I'd prefer transcend, medium LF, and you forgot to mention Cloud Cover (dense for me).
If I'm not in, I could serve as Armageddon's replacement (I'm afraid you can turn a human faction to AI play, but you cannot take it back later).
