Okay, one thing. Anyone that wishes to join the club started by Jimbo, and jointly administered by himself and I, will need to supply an email address to either of us in order to get an invite.
Both of our emails are in our profiles, so if you don't want to update your SMAC profile with your email address, and you wish to post your addr in here, just send either of us an email, and we'll send you an invite.
I guarantee that we won't pass your addr on to anyone else, in case anyone's worried.
The club is run under "Yahoo Clubs", and is a place for members to shoot the breeze, arrange MP games, and basically keep in touch when these forums become flooded with thousands of people once the game ships.
I'd like to expand to form a League, with ladders, challenges, etc, so please post any suggestions here. All of this is obviously dependant on exactly what Firaxis are organising in terms of official Leagues, but I imagine that if there are official leagues that we will form a Club/Faction/Tribe/Clan, and whup everyone else.
Which reminds me, I might just ask the Firaxians what they have planned...

Well, there's 27 right now. In the future, I have no idea at all. Might have to discuss amongst the members if we want to limit membership or not...

I see no need to limit membership as of yet... Though I think it would be wise to have the club split into two seperate clubs once it reaches an exorbitant amount of members. I'd say we should cap it off at around 50-75.

I've been reading over all these forums for a few months now and I finally found this one... I've played the SMAC demo quite a few times and have found it to be very enjoyable (if a little limited). I would be honored to be considered for admission into this elite group of online gamers... I however have never played any game online, except via modem against friends I already knew. I hope this will not prevent me from gaining admission to your group...
I do look forward to talking with gamers who can provide me with information that will make SMAC more enjoyable for me to play... I also would like to try this online gaming that I have read so much about on these forums these past few months..

I'm going to be in Melbourne for four days, drinking copious amounts of beer, and watching some cricket, playing some golf, generally just being a drunken lout. So don't feel left out if you want in, and the invite takes a while. =)
Stein, I have only ever played two games online, against a mate of mine via modem. So don't feel left out or anything. I imagine I'll have some catching up to do.

A full game multi-player can take quite a while to finish.
p.s. if you have more than 2 players use non-simitanious movement.

Sorry about my absence, busy playing Starcraft. But now I'm back, Starcraft just doesn't have the same strategic ring as SMAC. Of course I still have school work, so my presence in the forums will be rare, but I'll try to visit the SMAC club often.
