Rather than interupt the story thread I thought that this might be the place to post praise/comments/plot suggestions (as if we had any better ideas than the authors ) and I'll start the ball rolling.
Elemental, great story, and I'm delighted at your earlier post that said it is going to be an opus magnus. Eagerly looking forward to its continuation.
I love the technical content, too.

Thanks :-) I think it's great that more and more people are beginning to write SMAC fiction here. The world of SMAC is excellent material for stories of all kinds and lengths, and I've already read more than a few well-thought out short stories. Maybe we could get Firaxis to include a few on their SMACX expansion pack (if they like them) as part of a fanfiction section. It'd certainly add value to the product.

Great story lines. You have Elemental's gift of believable science fiction (maybe you should both collaborate on a book - the new millenium's Niven & Pournelle )

Just read Hydro's new story, Bright Beginnings - now that is what I call good SF! The stuff on these pages is getting better and better.
One thought: I haven't seen a story that has had a real 'happy' ending yet. Probably this is because in the real world, there isn't anything such as a happy ending, but it'd be nice to see a few around.
BTW, I'm planning a major update to Unavoidable Casualties sooner or later, when I've got a few particular words sorted out. If I ever stop fiddling about with the outline and actually start writing, I think it should be pretty interesting.

Sorry! Forgot to mention how much I enjoyed Hydros story. Almost made me forget my disbelief of Psychic forces

Just my science cynicism there!
Elemental, excellent! It has kept my interest. To say the least!
