Colonel Allistar examined his uniform in the mirror. He was a little nervous, it was his first meeting with Commisioner Lal. His light blue beret bearing the U.N. symbol marked him as a member of the special operations branch of the U.N. Peacekeeping Forces. His Khaki uniform was immaculately pressed, and a rack of ribbons marking his accomplishments during the first Hive-U.N. would no doubt impress the Commisioner. He understood the Commisioner wanted him to head up an important new operations group. Lately tensions between the Hive and U.N. had begun to grow, and everyone feared that Chairman Yang had been given enough time to rebuild and would soon grow tired of the Blood Truce. Allistar admired Commisoner Lal and many of the citizens in the U.N. did not doubt his wisdom, but his humanitarian tendencies would not allow him to do what any military man knew was the only solution and that was to wipe out the Hive before the Hive wiped everyone including the U.N. out. Colonel Santiago and her Spartans had tried to appeal to the U.N. on several occasions to press their advantage and continue the war, but Lal had refused and even gone so far as to force the Spartans to preserve the peace. Allistar knew that there was nothing to do about it now that war had been over for almost five years now. He hoped that perhaps this meeting with the Commisioner would be about finding a more long term solution to the U.N.'s tyrannical neighbor, Chairman Yang.
