Most likely published for GURPS or Fuzion (the two most popular 'generic' systems I know of)... What do you think? Would a paper/pencil/dice game set on Planet sell? What would make it good enough to publish, or bad enough to trade in for a copy of Shadowrun?

Sounds like a great idea. I would love to see an RPG. I would want to see it styled after Shining Force, though. I just hate the battles in Final Fantasy. |

If you're going to g, go R. Talsorian. For some reason, I've always found their attr + stat system ideally simple and flexible, but you have the problem with statisical analysis freaks going off on 'em. Would they help publish this kind of game? As I heard they're in a bit of finantial straits like much of the desktop gaming industry, that's a good question. |

Oh gods, please no. If you're going to turn Alpha Centauri into a paper RPG, just publish a sourcebook. Almost every time a great background is published it's married to some outdated or clunky mechanics system. All it means is more work for the GM as he or she has to strip out all of the mechanics-specific information. |
