Ok i dont know if anyone knows of this or even how to do it...so dont jump on me if you already know how. Whenever you pick one of the regular 7 default faction and hit ok, you hear them talk to you and explain their cause. Well when you make a custom faction you can make a sound file that will play when you pick your custom faction. First you need a program that converts .wav files to .mp3 files....i like audiograbber (http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/) its easy to use. For example...i made a sith faction (star wars). I found a wav file on the internet i wanted to hear when i picked the faction. So if you find or create a wav file that you wish to hear when you pick your faction...this is what you do. Download or create your wav file. For some reason you have to take the wav file into your sound recorder and increase the speed by 100%..DONT ASK ME WHY...thats just the way it is. Then go into your program and change it to an mp3 file. With audiograbber i sometimes got a "wrong codec" error...in this case you must right click on the wav file...on the bottom there is a button that says something like change format..click that then click on "playback", another screen comes up with a drop arrow..pick cd quality from the drop arrow and try to convert the wav file to a mp3 now..it should work. Name your new mp3 file after your faction name. So since my faction file is sith.txt name your mp3 - - sith.mp3. Put this file into the voices folder in your alpha centauri directory...thats all there is to it..it works i have done it. If you have problems e-mail me [email protected] |
