Here is a new faction. Post here if you have any comments, changes, bomb threats, questions, etc. Is it ballanced? Is it fun to play? Does the AI play it well (I think so)?

I thought the whole FF7-hype died off awhile ago to be replaced by FF8, but anyway...

WAY too powerful.

+3 Support, way better than the believers, they virtually have free units in the later stages of the game.

+2 Morale, not just free, but powerful.

+1 Economy, at first I would assume they're a war-monger faction, but they also get good Econ. So they can go Wealth with no penalties (+2 Morale) and clean up shop with +2 Econ.

Free Psi gate, Just too powerful. Once they sprawl out far enough they can use incredibly outlandish military tactics and win. For instance, they could keep all their military units inside the deepest parts of their territory, and still just use Psi Gates to throw them all over. Not to mention these units will be strong and free.

Will To Power, So they start the game with a level 9 (or 8, not sure) tech? They get Thought Control right off the bat, and with +3 Support they can easily switch on and off from using tactics of brute force to using tactics of attrition. Plus they get the Dream Twister guaranteed since it will be atleast 150 years before the other factions reach the Will To Power.

-3 Planet, So? Free Dream Twister, super teleporting free armies, what difference does it make? They can more than easily fend off hordes of mindworms without flinching.

-2 Industry/Immunity to Efficency, Once again, so? With +2 Morale and Immunity to Efficency they can go Planned/Wealth and neutralize this weakness. Once they go to war Industry is unimportant anyway and at that point they have all the cards in their hand.

So drop the Psi Gates, the Will to Power, the +3 Support (+1 or +2 is much more reasonable) and then we can start real balancing.

FF8 is not out yet, so FF7 is not dead, at least not in my town.

I changed it so you cannot get wealth, and no psi gates, but Will to Power stays (dream twister fits him so well anyway ). He has -3 planet so if he goes free market, planet will kill him, and i changed +3 support to Immunity, Support, and Immunity, inefficiancy is now +2 effic.

It's spelled Jenova(Not Jeneva).
The weapons were actually created by planet to stop Jenova.
Sephiroth was Shinra's enemy as well, so having Neo-Midgar, Junon underwater reactor, Gelnika plane etc as bases just doesn't make sense.

It's quite a cool idea. +2 Economy(+1 energy/square)is way too powerful. Change it to +1(+1 energy/base).

I know it's supposed to +1, but the it says ++ECONOMY in the part that actually determines the poitives and negatives.

i learned a useful tip in designing factions the other day. when you design a faction never exceed 6 social modifiers (economy, efficency, support, morale, police, growth, planet, probe, industry, research). that is the amount of modifiers that will will show up on your faction profile screen in the SE window, it also makes it easier for balancing.

the -3 planet is a pretty bad penalty because that means your troops get a minus 30% bonus when fighting mindworms but if he gets the dream twister(which he should always get) that penalty is goes away...if he goes green then suddenly he is a psi force and the immunity to support along with +2 efficency means that you get free use of thought control which mans +2 probe +2 moral +2 police and you'll get free democracy

so using dem/thought control you'd have

+4 efficency
+4 morale
+1 economy
+2 police
+2 growth
+2 probe
-3 planet
-2 industry

which is too strong in my opinion and stasis Archon is right you do have ++ Economy where it actually determines what modifers you get
