(This is the 'game mechanics' post referred to in the 'What If...' thread I started in NonSMAC. For details on what I'm doing and how we're intending to play, check that thread.)
The Centauri Witches are a splitoff from the Gaians. They lose the +2 in Efficiency because they are more warlike than the Gaians; they do not have the negatives to morale and police. Their Social Engineering is Fundamentalist/Green/Power/Theocracy. The faction leader is a mysterious woman known only as The Hyaena.

OK, hmmmm, the shu dynasty has a +2 morale, +1 research, -2 efficiency, and a -2 industry.

Basically, the "Academy of Chiron" is a straight clone of the UoP, right down to the bonuses and penalties, and the SE is Democratic/Green(why green? mindworms can be captured for study this way.)/Knowledge/Cybernetic.

Hmmmm....., what about an intellectual, who does computer stuff during the week, and parties on the weekends.

That's a negative, Pick, try looking at this: Intellectual, wrapped up in his work, but plays Alpha Centauri in his spare time.

Okay... on the subject of character descriptions...
The Hyaena is about 5'7" and has long, straight,deep-auburn hair that falls to her hips. Her build is both lush and powerful; she's not the scrawny model-type. Her eyes are dark and intense, and she has multiple piercings in her ears, as well as a ring in her nose. She is tanned from much time spent outside, and tends to wear mostly black, through the style variates with her mood.
(And yes, this is really the way I look OFFline, too...)
