Is the way to disable more than one type of social engineering for a new faction just to write them one after another?
Ex:
^{May not use Thought Control}
^{May not use Police State}

no,its done right after the special rules, like this;
#NATIVES
Natives of Planet, Natives, Planetarians, F, 2, Speaker for Planet, F, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1,
FUNGNUTRIENT, 3, FUNGMINERALS, 3, FUNGENERGY, 3, FANATIC, TERRAFORM, MINDCONTROL, PSI, 75, SOCIAL, +++PLANET
Politics, Police State, nil
Politics, Democratic, nil
Politics, Fundamentalist, nil
Economics, Free Market, nil
Economics, Planned, nil
Economics, Green, nil
Values, Power, nil
Values, Knowledge, nil
Values, Wealth, nil
Future Society, Cybernetic, nil
Future Society, Eudaimonic, nil
Future Society, Thought Control, nil
Native, Native,

the text you were refering to appears in the faction selection screen before you enter the game. that text has no bearing on the faction,it only informs the player what properties are asigned to the faction. if you dont update this text manualy, it wont reflect the changes you make at the top of the faction file.

umm...it didn't seem to work...
or at least it messed up all of the names...

Hey, it didn't work for me either. It only disables the first one listed. Maybe you need commas or semi-colons or something, but I think you just can't do it (otherwise anx would have included it in his faction editor).
