Is it a good idea to jump from citizen to transcend? And what tips would I need?

I tried it and got soundly whipped for my trouble. I'm still struggling at Talent level. Then again, you may want to play a couple of games at Trandscend just to see what its like, if you like a challenge. I would suggest, though, that you play some games at Talent level because at least, you and the AI are on somewhat of an equal footing. This is only my VERY humble opinion as I'm still learning, myself. |

No, that is not a good idea. Work your way up, level by level. It will be much easier this way.- Biddles |

yes, you should go up gradually, actually I think I played each level once, except Citizem (while I was trying demo), and now I've played Thinker several times, and (sadly) found it to be matched pretty evenly with me..so I'm still there |

Y, may best help is to try first to read some good strategic hints as I've found looking on very old Strategies and Tactics posts. Another good source of idea is at Apolyton (http://apolyton.net/smac/), at Forum, where you can find the Stategic guide assembled by Velociryx and some later add-on. Really interesting and useful, in my opinion, not to mention it's free to read (always a nice touch to any Strategy Guide ). In fact, using some hints of them, I raise up to Thinker level pretty fast (I don't want to try Trascende level because I hate drone problem become the biggest part of the game). Enjoy! |

Drones are not that big problem. What really bothers me is having to read that huge message list. I'm on a game where I'm just moving to Cybernetic, which giver -3 police, but a 20% research bonus, but man... I went through some punishment to get rid of all those drones messages. |

What really annoys me is in the late game how you have to spend 15 minutes a turn going through messages saying 'facility complete'. And you can't switch it off because then you have no idea what your bases are doing. If you give it to the governor, he/she always screws it up. What I want to see is a build queue that you can set for every base. For example I would have my start queue which would build recycling tanks, childrens creche and rec commons. Then once this message comes up saying queue finished i would switch the queue over to a specialised base queue like 'research queue' or 'rescource queue'. Now that's not a bad idea if i don't say so myself. What does everyone think.-Biddles |

If the average town takes 10 turns to complete a facility, and there are 9 slots in the queue, and you have 90 towns, then you will have to create 1 queue per turn on average. That is not so bad, is it? Also, I believe you can copy and paste queues, but I don't know how. I never do it (every base is different :-) ) You should ask someone. |

To save build queues: - Select the list of Facilities/Units that you want to build in the queue. - Get back to the city screen. - Right click on the build queue & choose 'Save queue' - Enter a decriptive name & choose to overwrite. To load a build queue: - From the city sceen, right click on the queue area & select 'Load queue' - Chose your queue Note that when loading a queue, it will change whatever you are currently building to the first item in the queue, so if you have a 'facility only' queue, make sure the city has a garrison first.

sandals- my god! with just a few simple lines, you've changed the game for me fundamentaly, this reminds me of a little saying i like to say, usually in relation to chess and kung-fu, and it goes a'lil somethin like this:"a true master- always learns". anyway, speaking of jumping around, i jumped from level four difficulty to transend, and got soundly whipped also, (actually i kind of enjoyed the experience and am thinking of dressing my computer in a leather dust-jacket and a hi-heeled monitor foot and doing it again) but anyway, like Biddles and others have said, best to climb up there level by level. oh, and may i suggest turning of victory by transendance, i personally dont beleive in it and think you get a better game with the other three ways of winning enabled. anybody disagree? |

I'm trying to get the highest score possible for me for each faction(Thinker level), so I always win by transcendence even though I always can win by some other way and waiting until the last year before the game ends. But this type of game is REALLY boring, so unless you are going for score, finish the game as soon as possible . |
