What does it really do specifically? And who uses it? I turned it on for the first time, and playing the UoP, I actually won my first conquest victory. I usually play a builder style and go for transcendance especially when I play UoP. I did not notice the factions being any more agressive than usual. I was expecting them to rush to beat me so I played a lot agressively and expansionist than usual, as a result I actually beat the Believers to submission, eradicated Morgan after a pact that he cancelled, beat the Spartans to submission and eradicated the Hive (the PK and Gaians had already been eradicated very early in the game by the Spartans) thus winning a conquest vistory by 2259.

If you open the commlink, right-click on faction and see its profile, or whenever you contact another faction and click in the button profile, you'll notice there's somewhere in that screen the personality of the leader of the faction. The Believer have an aggressive personality, that's why they're always attacking you and playing offense. The UoP are Erratic, that's why you never know when his going to break your treaty or ask you for mercy. The option you're talking about changes the faction personalities to aggressive, encouraging them to attack more often and to keep playing on offense. |

It was probably the fact that you played more aggressively to counter them that made you not notice their aggressiveness. After all, they can't be aggressive if you've already killed them.- Biddles |

NoviceCEO: thanks for the explanation Biddles: I think you are right, since I knew the option was ON, I attacked first.I prefer to have "intense rivalry" turned OFF, because it makes the game just one big long neverending war from start to finish, and I am a builder at heart. Let's turn this thread into a poll: How many play with "intense rivalry" turned ON, on a regular basis?

I play a defensive game and i turn it on. I like seeing how many waves of units the AI can send. |
