Who can win witout building any combat units except to defend your bases? Note: you can capture combat units.

The funny thing is that I started a probe-only game with the Believers this morning -- before I read this message!
I am allowing myself defensive units for bases though. I'm not THAT hardcore yet. =)
I'm playing Transcend difficulty, on an Average map. Actually, I'm not entirely sure I have Conquest victory enabled, but I'll see how long it takes to make everyone my slaves.

You CAN use combat units to defend your bases, just not to attack other bases/units. I suggest that you play as gaians so that you can capture mind worms.

You can still win easily by economic or diplomatic victory, or play till the end of game to win by the highest score.
Try the Zero Facilities Challenge.

Yes, I know that you COULD win by other victory types, but in this challange the only way you can win is by conquest. Please disable all other victory types.

So probes are the only way to go about, followed by the gaia capturing wormies.
1 - Believers
2 - Gaians
