Every faction I've ever played against has been a pain in the posterior at one time or another, or even under different situations. Usually, the ones that bug me most are the conquering factions.Number one on my list is the Spartans. Santiago tends to make excessive demands and offers little in return. Frequently, when one of the factions hits you up for the traditional 50 credits "protection" money, you can give them the 50 credits and come out with a Treaty or at least trade technologies. Oddly enough, when I play Gaians, I seem to have a 50-50 chance of actually getting along with Santiago...must be a "woman thing", though I'm not female.
Number two is the Hive or the Peacekeepers. The reason for the split is that I tend to flip my politics between Democracy--which hacks off Yang--and Police State--which hacks off Lal. Politics is chosen based on need. My favorite faction of the moment is the Gaians and I run Democracy in times of peace and Police State during Vendettas. Either way, I end up hacking off one faction or the other. The Hive gets a slight edge because they are always huge when I tangle with them.
Number three on my list would have to be Miriam. I hardly ever use Fundamental politics except for very brief periods when my probe teams will be busy. Miriam doesn't
like my politics and the Believers are
always huge, and so a big skirmish breaks
out. Usually, I'm well ahead of her in
technology, and have the Hunter-Seeker
Algorithm, so once I get her pruned down a
bit, I can usually coax a surrender or simply crush her.
I could give a "Dishonorable Mention" to
just about everybody else except possibly
UoP. Morgan never likes my Green economy.
Lal can be an absolute pain when he wants
to. Even the the half-naked, tree hugging,
pacifist Dierdre has gone out of her way to
annoy me when I'm not playing Gaians.
Okay, that makes the scores:
Believers - 7
Hive - 6
Spartans - 6
Morgan - 2
PeaceKeepers - 2
Gaians - 1
UoP - 0 <== Why does this *NOT* suprise me?
