I'm playing the box version of SMAC and I in my current game I'm playing Lal on Librarian level. I defeated the Spartans and most of the Gaians, and with all of these cities my population was large enough that I became the supreme leader of planet. The Gaians, however, defied me. It was my understanding that I now had to destroy them for a conquest victory. I finished off her last bases but nothing happened. The conquest victory rules say you cannot win with more than two other pact brothers, but I have 4 and ever since I became supreme planetary ruler, they all decline to talk to me, which means I can't break the pact with any of them. How does a diplomatic victory work when a faction defies the vote? I've spent too many hours playing this game, and I'm getting more than a little frustrated. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Which version (patch no.) are you playing? You should have won when the last defiant faction dies but sometimes you dont. I have only experienced this bug in v1 (but that dosn't mean its fixed in the latest patch ) Beta-1 Is occsionally helpfull |

Sorry, by box version I meant I haven't installed any patches. Would this solve the problem? |

it probably would. I would update to Patch 4.0, as soon as possible. It's available at www.aliencrossfire.com |

i have won by becoming supreme leader, then eliminating the Spartans(who i commited wantan attrocities against). all the other factions were still quite powerful, but accepted me as SL. non of them would speak to me, but i won once the Spartans were crushed. However, if you still want to kik ass, right click on one of your pact siblings in the council menu, and you should have the option to renounce the pact of brotherhood. me help gud |

miller, you say:"Ever since I became supreme leader". Does that mean you've already won the game? I've tried that once. |

My bid for supreme leadership passed by the required 3/4 margin, but since the Gaians defied me, I had to get rid of them before I could win. I have since downloaded the version 4 patch, and this problem was solved. Thanks for helping, I'm sorry to bother people with this one... |

Don't worry, you're welcome. I like when someone help me, so I think anyone politely asking question should receive polite answer BTW I want to underline that Firaxis DID some bug hunting making patches
