When you find a faction that has more energy credits thn you, sign a pact and then say: "I have a urgent need of energy credits" "Otherwise I will cancel our pact" Now the faction should give you money, at least 25 credits. I got 1800 credits before 2190 while the best anyone else had was 180!!! HEHEHEHEHE!!! Act like the tax collector!

No, the best way to get more $$$ and techs is to contact CEO Morgan. When he asks if you will sign a treaty with him, say no. Then (if you play as the university, anyway) He'll say, "Would a 250 credit contribution toward your research change your mind?". Say YES. Then pronounce vendetta on him. Keep attacking him until he contacts you. Talk to him. If he asks you to sign a truce, say no. If he offers to give you techs or $$$ if you sign a truce, say YES. Then break the truce. Repeat until he's dead. Then do the same to other factions. If you see a probe team, sign a truce. Then break the truce by attacking the probe team. That's all I have to say. |

if HE has 250 credits....... but my way you dont have war or anything while other factions get less credits while you act as a Alpha Centauri IRS collector!!!!!!!! |

I hope this isn't as easy as it is in Civ 2. In civ it really imbalances the game. |

At wich level do you gain a so peaceful response from other factions? What's you rank on factions' list? (Best wealth, Best Overall...) May I suggested you consider there is NO silver bullet in SMAC like you explain, because there isn't a single, really repetible event as in other games, based on strictly prebuild scenario, with same response by AI factions? You can suggest to "almost cheat" because of some AI unbalanced formula to gain easy advantage on it (e.g. to exchange very poor base of yours for a better one of one AI faction). No SMAC player really should be so categorical suggesting SMAC actions |

The SMAC factions are very sensitive to how you treat them. On the first date, they like flowers and chocolates a lot!If instead you insist on going to a dingy dive, spill sauce on their best clothes, then loudly make fun of their appearance, they'll hate you for life - and even if they agree to a pact they'll be sharpening their knives and biding their time. So first impressions count. Example: Usually Miriam and Zak fight. But one game she and i were #2 and #1 respectively, our first contact went like this. Miriam: "Zak, Yang has slapped my face. Will you slap him back?" Zak: "With pleasure, my dear." A long quest later, i retrieved Miriam's two lost bases, and gave them to Miriam's best friend Deirdre. This was cunning, because it seems the Gaian lady said: "Hey Miriam, i've got the two bases you lost to Yang. I'm tough now. How'd you like a pillow fight?" To which Miriam answered: "Pow!". This cunning diplomacy kept Miriam occupied with other offenders, while i always played the knight in shining armor. She honored our pact to the end, when she was still a mighty #2 or #3, even voting for Zak as supreme leader.

Zoetrope, I've played a Librarian level game as University, where I was at war with the Gaians from the first sight. Then I talked to them, paid them money for peace treaty and then gave them all sorts of technology. Then I proposed a Pact, they told me to declare war on Morgans, I did so, and after that they remained loyal pact sisters until I just before the game ended declared vendetta on them, conquered their capital base and build the Ascent to Transcendence SP. So, if you play your cards right, you can make good friends in a short time, just by giving them gifts( of course I always play as Unsurpassed in might). |
