I have 2 strange 4.0 'bugs':1) A mind worm attacked one of my cities. I have a miliraty unit and a probe in the city. The mind worm destroyed the military unit, but NOT the probe. The next turn it attacked again and destroyed the probe. Evidently probes are not destroyed when the last militart unit is destroyed by a mind worm. My probes were unarmored. 2) I have 4-5 cities that are not appearing on the map in the bottom right corner of the screen. One is my HQ. 3) One of my cities (I captured from the UOP) does not show up in the F4 city list. I can rotate to it by using the arrow keys, but not go directly to it from the F4 list.

The survival of the probe team may be reasonable, as their very weak physical strength is not relevant to psi attack: all that matters for that is their morale level.Questions: 1. Do conventional units kill both the military unit and the probe team? 2. Do artificial psi-attack units kill both the military unit and the probe team?

Probes act as a single unit. meaning, if you have 1 probe defending a city, the attacker'll still have to get through your probe before he/she/it can take the city over. Before version 3.0 it was more viable to use Probes as defenders because you could stack them up with armor; Police, AAA specials. Probes also attack other probes, worms, by psyche. |

Not quite correct. If the probe team is the only unit in a city, then an attacking conventional unit will have to use 1 turn destroying it. But if the probe team is accompanied by other conventional units in the city, the destruction of the last conventional unit will cause the auto-destruct of the probe team. Think of it as collateral damage. |

Yea, Plato is right. I however an thinking that Probes might be a good defense for wild mind worms. I am not sure about enemy mind worms/Psi units. The probes ARE destroyed when the last military units is destroyed by convential warfare. |

Only armored probes can defend against wild MWs. Unarmored probes defend with 0.01 strength against psi because they are considered non-combat.Random probe tip: Don't forget to upgrade your probe's reactor when you can - this gives you a big advantage against AI probes. I often see them come next to my city, then run away instead of being slaughtered. |

Sandals, I have to differ with you. I had a city with 2 units - 1 infintry and 1 probe. A wild mind worm attacked and killed the infintry unit. The probe was NOT destroyed. Next turn the mind worm attacked and esily killed the probe unit. I moved another probe into the city right after that and the next turn the mind worm attacked and easily killed the new probe unit. Finally I was albe to get a rover there after that and killed the mind worm. These were normal probes that the computer desinged. I use auto design and weed out the units I do not want and add the ones I do want.I don't know if I can duplicate, but I am sure it happened. |

Hey, it just came to me. I can probably duplicate it if I make a few probes in my current game. I will give it a try. I have cleared most of the fungus, but I will give it a try. |

I may be wrong, but I believe that there is no collateral damage in psi combat. That would explain why the probe survived when the worm killed the infantry with it. |

I wasn't saying the probes can't defend if they are by themselves - I just meant they get slaughtered. So the inconsistency is that the unarmored probe doesn't get destroyed when the last combat unit it is stacked with is destroyed (by a MW). Right? How about Air Combat? If there is an unarmored probe stacked with a city defender, and a needlejet destroys the defender, is the probe killed too? It seems like a similar case. |

I use needle jets and choppers a lot and they do kill off the probe unit when the last miliraty unit is destroyed. |
