Every second, your not doing anything else. For about three months then you'll be so annoyed you'll give up for at least six weeks then start again. |

Beta1, that's frightening. You've just described my *exact* pattern of SMAC usage to date. Three months play, got bored, now playing my second SP game after taking a six week break. YIKE! |

Yeah once you get over the intial rush you find SMAC more and more frustrating, then you stop for just about long ebough to make it seem interesting (or someone posts some new idea here) and you start up again. I would advice playing outcast for about four weeks. That should help break the cycle. |

Divide your time 3 ways:1) Eat 2) sleep 3) play SMAC |

Series II - I would try and cut down on the eating if I were you - it wastes valuable SMAC playing time |

OK, add to my earlier reply:When you are out buying SMAC also get a small refridgerator. 4) Move computer desk near your bathroom 5) Plug in fridge near your bathroom 6) fill fridge 7) take phone off hook 8) see if you can stay within 10 feet of your computer for 36 hours straight An addict! Me? The frist night I had MOO (Master of Orion) I heard a noise in the back of my house after playing for awhile. What could that be!!!!!! Upon investigation I found the noise to be my alarm. It was time for me to wake up and go to work. The night was gone and I had not left my computer. Ahhhh the good old days............ |

Boy, do I resemble that remark. My family really hates to get me a game for Father's Day; they don't see me much until the middle of July. Which reminds me...I'd better see what they've been up to...! |

Later in the game, on some systems, you can eat, shower, whatever, while the AI is making its moves. SMAC warped, sandworm |

Even though my family keeps giving me weird looks and making snide comments (my new name is "mole" because I sit in the den playing SMAC) I amnage to play rather frequently, at least an hour a day (usually) I could do more but I try to keep my interests in other things going as well, such as reading and eating and researching, but SMAC almost killed my robotics hobby...poor little Spartacus (the robot)all alone in the workshop with no one to tinker with him. (I've since added light sensors and progammed him to go towards light. Infrared is next, than I start working on finding some way to make a robot to mow my lawn...it must be possible!) |

Trying to complete the game with every faction at transcend is the challenge I'm seeking now, since I thought aceplayer's scenarios are still a bit too much for me :-)Hope that 3 hrs a day is not too much,
